| hello im tinkerbell hi everyone, im a 1st time daddy to a 3 month old. i didn't do any research about yorkies before getting her. so tinky has been with me for a month, what a stubborn, energetic, velcro girl she is. i just love her, she is too cute with selective hearing she is currently about 3kg (6.5lb) i think she will grow to about 5kg if anyone has a better estimate please let me know. she is a very picky eater, i got her taste of the wild prairie puppy (which costs alot here in Lebanon) I now soak it in broth, and add some chicken so she will eat it. And for some reason she doesn't like to poop on the pad, prefers the carpet and rugs... Anyway i would like to know if anyone can tell by the pictures if she will have the cotton hair or becomes silky (her eye glow green or yellow) Any advice or insight will be welcomed. and merry Christmas |

| What a cutie! I would guess, from her current age and weight, that your girl is going to be a bigger yorkie, twelve pounds or even larger. However, no one can know for certain until she’s full grown, as individual growth varies. Whatever size, she sounds like a typical yorkie in personality and she should be a delight. As far as the coat, when you ask whether her coat will become silky, do you mean that she has a cottony coat now? If her coat is cottony now, it most likely will remain cottony. The difference is in the density and texture of the hair, which probably won’t change. If you’re not sure whether her hair is silky or cottony now, here’s a link that describes the difference: Yorkshire Terrier Hair and Coat |

as for the coat it does feel cottony, very soft to the touch and it seems greasy even a few days after a bath. the base of the black hairs are grey or silver it seems. thank you for the link i will check it out but i admit i did read alot about this and still couldn't tell. | |

Because your lil Sweetie "may" have a cotton coat and "may" be on the over standard weight of 7 pounds, does not mean she is not a pure breed Yorkie. The base of the black hairs being grey or silver is normal, some yorkies black saddle do turn grey or silver, that would be an issue only if you planned to show her. I had 3 yorkies that the black saddle remained, 2 yorkies their saddle turned silver grey. Yorkie hair color can keep changing color as they grow, my guy is now salt and pepper with tan head and legs, also weighing in at 12 pounds appox 5 KG, he as did my now passed girls were all AKC registered, all pure breed, all over standard weight. She sounds like a sassy lil yorkie, love and enjoy this little girl for the pup will is and will become. There is nothing like being owned by a yorkie

| She looks great! I've got a big girl as well she's 5 months and a bit over 5 pounds. When she didnt have her shots i setup a pen and put puppy pads inside and just put her in the pen in the morning followed by treats after using the bathroom on the pads. Picky eating leave the kibble there she wont starve her self, it will just be annoying at the start. Just dont give in! |

| I was checking what my first post was, to see how clueless i was So in case any new members are reading this, and have the same questions as i did. tinkerbell is almost 2 now. She weights around 4.5kg (about 10lb)teapot yorkie Her hair is cottony, during her first year i kept it long without any issues, it started to tangle quite alot after her first haircut for summer. so now it is kept short. When a yorkie is silky, it will be very obvious, truly like long human hair, same feeling if u let ur hands through it. As for being a picky eater, she still is. But she knows now no food if she skips a meal.so that helped in her eating. Before i would fuss and just cave and give her whatever she would eat. Just be consistent and don't worry they won't starve. Potty issue was resolved with two seperate pads, after like few months back to one pad. (the occasional oopsy does happen, especially if she is mad at someone. They will get a surprise on their bed ) |

| Welcome back, good to know you found the trick to her pickyness. Your photos are HUGE, cannot see Tinkerbel, they have to be resized. YT photos cannot exceed 200KM.
