| ![]() Hi all, I am a return mom of yorkie named Niu Niu. I was on this site 10+ years ago when I loss my precious yorkie Dior from a dog attack. It took me this long to have the courage to love again and adopt Niu Niu. She is a precious teacup like Dior and very happy puppy! She is 4 months and been with me for 1.5 months. I need your help.. I suffered from a very bad PTSD from the death of Dior. I watched my best friend, my baby.. my everything killed in front of me and I couldn’t save him. I still cry when I think if it and I forever will live with that guilt. So now with Niu Niu, I am scare to death to walk with her on the street . Literally I don’t feel well when I have to walk her. I feel bad she is not getting the walk she needs as Dior was a beautiful walker and she doesn’t even know how to do it properly. How do I get over the PTSD so she can be a normal happy yorkie? I know she can sense of my fear and that make her fearful too right? Please help and thanks you for the outpouring love from 10+ years ago. I wouldn’t have made it out without the love and understanding from y’all people here !!! |

| ![]() It's easy for us to tell you what you should do, what is best for both you and your new baby, but it is up to you to fight this battle, and battle it is. Yes, Niu Niu senses your fear and will also fear walks. You have to first forgive your self and not live with the guilt and blame. Can you do this for your new baby. Can you be strong, brave, shed the guilt and harness that lil girl up for a stress free walk, because that is what you will have to do so Niu Niu can meet her new world without fear, meet people and socialize with dogs and nature. It's a hard battle, but well worth the win for a healthy, happy fear free yorkie pup (((hugs))) and good luck.

| ![]() ..I have another Yorkie that adopted and I always carry with me an umbrella that opens in 1/2 second with a big wooosh noise and that scares any dog that get near us...LOL...I dont take any chances. Also I dont use my phone while walking...and if I get into a conversation with neighbors, I carry her in my arms...ALWAYS.

| ![]() Can you find a support group in your area? When my yorkie Brandi passed away about 7 years ago, there were many support groups just for people who lost pets and needed help getting over their deaths that I could go too if I needed too. I don't think there's a time limit on grieving so I'm sure they would welcome you if you needed them. IF this is having an impact on the quality of life for your current furbaby, it maybe worth looking into. Last edited by yavenay; 11-12-2020 at 09:39 AM. |

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | ![]() I just noticed you are from New York. The city? If so I love that city. So two things sometimes can be done together she helps you and you help her🙂 Start small- short time for a short walk. Look into it if you haven't already done counseling for yourself. Also newness can bring back old fearand woes that is to be expected. And lastly but never leastly Welcome Backp

| ![]() I'm back too! It has been a few years for me too. I have no more yorkies and it is time to start the hunt again. I'm not sure I will be breeding again, but I know I want to share my time with another yorkie. So if you know someone who has great puppies with great prices. please let me know. Thanks again. ![]()

| ![]() I to lost my beloved Heidi this past July to German Shepards that got out of neighbors pen. I was walking her and witnessed it all. I just bought a 4 month old female yorkie named Gabby. I also have a fear of walking her but have started a little at a time. |

On a lighter note....Congrats on your new baby girl. It is scary walking these lil mites, I commend you for over coming your fear. Some members have suggested carrying a big black umbrella that automatically opens with a push of a button to ward off approaching dogs. This scares on coming dogs when held in front of you between you and the strange dog. You may want to think about carrying one on your walks. Have fun with your new baby

| ![]() I live in a very busy city with a lot of large dogs. I've noticed everyone with smaller dogs avoid the main paths and carry mace or a walking stick to create space between others. |

| ![]() My adopted boy is not dog friendly, I would definitely keep distance between my lil fighter and any dog of any size. To many small dogs have been attacked by larger dogs, yes, even ones that are on leash being walked by its owner. To avoid a small dog be mauled to death is reason ppl pick up their little ones. Pepper spray / Mace is illegal in several states. Anyone reading this thread and thinking of using pepper spray check your state first to see if there is a restriction against using it.
