Default Reminder

Just a little reminder that our babies lives are not as long as we would like and we only have them for a short time. Don’t be afraid to put the book down, put your tablet down, step away from your desk or whatever you are doing and give them a little love or play when they ask. I found my self doing something on my iPad and Ollie was trying to get my attention and I was kinda blowing him off until he wedged himself between my iPad and me. He just wanted 5 minutes of love and kisses and then went along his way to get into trouble lol. He is already 2 and we never know how long we have these little guys and gals. Love them while you can.

My little Gus will jump onto my husband's ottoman, bark, then close the lid of his laptop if he is working on it for too long. He is such an imp! lol

Cody is so jealous of my laptop he will lay across the keyboard, so I'll play fetch until he tires then I can get to what I was doing.

I love that you started with......"just a little reminder......" Ha Ha And I am smiling at the Thread....what these tiny dogs are doing to get that attention! Ha Ha Katy 'taps' our legs to come sit on our laps for a nap.

Theses Tiny Dogs are so danged smart! But time flies so quickly. Believe me when I tell you, the older you get, the faster it goes.

Katy was 5 months old on the 5th. She weighed in at 4 1/2 pounds. (or is that 4.8 for 4 pounds 8 ounces?????) Anyway! Time is flying......

And shame on me, I need to be Training her more. AND BOY DOES SHE LOVE IT! I need to do a video of her coming into the house. We have a Sun Room were I take her snowy coat off, she stand so nicely, and then I tell them (I also have a GSD) to 'Whirl Your Feet', they walk down the room and back. Then I tell them, 'Places', and they sit, side by side, before the door is open. They have to stay seated until the 'OK.' to come in.....somedays that "OK" is longer than others. KATY IS DOING GREAT!

Do add to your take time with them.....to think of all the little daily things your tiny dogs do and smile when they do them. If you are like me..... I tend to take those for granted.

You're doing an excellent job at training at an early age.

These yorkies are very smart and learn quickly, quicker if they are food motivated like my kid is. Ppl just have to put the time in to teach and train. Cody was 2 1/2 when I got him. I saw how smart he was when I first got him, example, day one, I took him to the yard to introduce him to FREEDOM, run loose without leash, all the time telling him to make pee pee, not knowing what words were used by prev. owner. When he peed I clapped my hands and made a big fuss saying over and over Cody made a pee pee, then he would run into the house, I would call him back out and say Cody make poo poo, again not knowing what the prev. called that, out he would come and make a poop, more clapping and high happy praise. Later in the day of 1st day home with me I take him out again saying Cody make pee pee, he pees I praise and he runs in the house again, I called him out saying you forgot to poo poo and he poops lol. Then I started with basic commands, he learned one command every day with spending just 5 to 7 minutes through out the day. In 10 days he learned all command and a few tricks all for that one little treat reward.
That love to learn and please up but you have to put the time in. They are very smart and cunning lol lol.

Dogs learn FAR more than most people give them credit for.....
GOOOOOOD BOOOOOOY COOOOODY! Ha Ha

And I LOVE 'go potty' training dogs.....SO CONVENIENT! Not only for traveling, but when raining, or I am in a hurry or.....

Katy has this down pretty well. But. <winks and laughs> She also now knows that her walk is over when I ask, so now? I ask for the, 'go potty', and keep walking her, so that on those days I REALLLLLY need her to hurry, she trusts me......

PS! I LOVE your training tips with Codi! LOVE THEM!
You need to have someone film him. Not only for us to see, but for you to look back on. What a CHARM you have there!

That's just the way I said it lol plus the clapping and happy dance, if my neighbors saw me they must have thought I was a crazy lady lol, who cared it worked from day one.

Back to the original thread, so true that thought! Winston and Sarah are both already 14, time just flies ,where did it go? Winston now unfortunately has the need for a belly wrap for his inconstancy. Sarah shows definitel signs of cataracts...
and they both tend to sleep a lot. Holding them close and cuddling them is our favorite thing now. We lost our Miss Annie my in-laws baby 3 years ago.
So give your you pups loves and attention often .....they ask so little in return.

If I'm on the phone Cody is non stop barking, I have to go in the bathroom and close the door to finish my conversation, with him on the other side barking lol, lil jealous imp lol.

Sapphire would sit on my lap, then front feet on the keyboard while she licked all in between my fingers as I tried to type. Sooo distracting and it tickled. Hands are strictly only for petting her!

I’m a huge fan on the pee and poo commands. Callie and Joey will do both for sure When told. Ollie and Penny are great with pee but not as spot on with poo. I’m sure our neighbors think we are weird out there celebrating a poo or pee lol. Callie’s only issue before my moms yorkie showed her how was pooing when we were not in her yard. She would hold it for 3 days it was terrible. When we traveled with my moms yorkie the first time he went poo and she just watched him and then did it.
