| Coyote in my back neighbor's backyard! Hi Yorkietalk Fam, long time no chat! We're all doing fantastic! Posting this as a warning. We live in heavily populated suburban neighborhood. We are surrounded by hills & mountains. We also have golf courses & empty ravines throughout the neighborhood where wild animals live. We did have a recent fire (Tenaja fire) that displaced a lot of animals from the hills. I also did see a coyote walking along the sidewalk in broad daylight right down the street a few years back, so was wary of them hanging around. Couple of weeks ago, my back neighbor to the left had a coyote in her backyard @ 10 am. The blue arrow is our house. By the looks of it, the coyote jumped into my neighbor's backyard to my left. She has a Chihuahua that comes & goes freely through a doggie door. Luckily, she was not outside when this happened. My Yorkies are never left unattended outside & I have my patio enclosed w/ ex-pens connected together. This is more to avoid them getting into fights w/ back neighbor's Husky & side neighbor's Chihuahua through the fence LOL. Anyways, I have noticed my Yorkies taking turns sniffing the entrance to our patio slider & mark that very spot. I was wondering why they would do that & now I am pretty sure that the coyote visited our backyard too & marked it. Be very cautious, even if you don't think there are predators bc you live in the city, there very well might be. We are all living together & they were here 1st. Stay safe, look up & around, never leave your littles out unattended.

| That sniffing where outside scents get in and marking over the spot is a dead give-away your little Yorkies are onto a scent alien to their world or a familiar but disturbing scent! So scary to think that those poor coyote creatures have to venture into our yards seeking help of whatever kind they need. However pitiful and needy they are, we don't want them taking out babies! Your heart breaks for them but would break in-two if those poor things ever got hold of one of your little ones. Wise of you to always supervise any pet during its outside time, as hopefully your own scent or presence will deter any predators on the prowl and if it doesn't, give you time to act to save your pet. Hopefully the coyotes will find no fruitful hunting ground and move on soon.

| I live among coyotes although I have not seen them close to my house but they are here. Night time Cody uses the deck to potty with me and my bat. In Pa. you can shoot and kill coyotes on sight. Thank you for the heads up and it's nice to see you stop in.

| I am formally from NY, The Bronx, the boarder line of Yonkers NY and The Bronx we had coyotes. Poor things are being driven out by society with building of houses, they are loosing their territory and they are not afraid of humans. A hungry coyote is a dangerous coyote.

| Wowzers. I’m glad we for the most part don’t have them. We do however have eagles with a nest very close like within a mile or two. We have been seeing either multiple foxes lately or the same fox several times.

They eat small mammals, birds, and large insects, like grasshoppers, crickets and beetles. Dogs are not on their menu, they mostly stay away from dogs and humans, so you're safe. But be careful of your pups, they will go after fox's.

| We have outdoor pens for our German Shepherd Dogs. The pens have 'roofs' and 'floors'. Coyotes will go over or dig under a dog's pen to kill them. We DO have a large pack of Coyotes around here. We hear them 'sing' and we hear them 'scream'. Both are unnerving.....but that screaming sounds like women screaming. And they do it for long amounts of time. Coyotes will use one of their own, 'bitch in season', to lure out male dogs.....to kill them. Coyotes and Fox are VERY Clever and wild animals/animals live by their own rules. Fox would see a Yorkie as a 'small mammal'. |

Cody wanted to take on a bear that was in my neighbors yard in Sept., his first bear sighting, he goes crazy when deer are grazing in the small field behind my house, the deer now know he can't get at them so they ignore him as he goes into Cujo mode. If a poor lil fox came in the yard, poor thing would have a heart attack seeing Cody's reaction lol.

| We had a coyote in our backyard a little over a week ago; first one I've seen since moving in 7 years ago. It was about 20 feet from our house, seemingly watching with amusement while Fabian was barking and jumping up and down, inside the house, up against the glass sliding doors. We've kept Fabian away from the backyard since then and are watching more closely while taking him for his walks around the neighborhood. He is never left outside unattended. |

| There was an article in the paper the other day about a guy who thought he hit a dog with his car, so he put it in the back of his car to take it to the vet. It was, of course, a coyote. |
