| They don’t need food at night as long as your feeding at least twice a day and 3 or 4 for the 9 week old.

| Yeah they don't need it at night. My oldest girl does have water available to her at night due to health issues she has and she can get to the doggy door to go to the bathroom. The other three don't. If you give food or water during the night you are more then likely to have a puppy that needs extra night potty breaks.

This may just be my little guy, and he does not need any additional potty breaks at night, but he is much older than yours. He has been eating at night since he was 12 weeks old.

| Very young and/or very tiny dogs seem more likely to get bouts of canine hypoglycemia so you might want to check out that condition on a website so that you'll know if your younger dog might need more frequent feedings than a night-long fast at that tender age of 9 weeks. Dogs should always have access to fresh, clean water.

| I've never experienced this with either Yorkie I have or have had. Gidget is pretty much a grazer during the day but at night just collapses and sleeps all night. Guess I'm one of the fortunate ones as far as having to get up at night. Hope things settle down for you soon. |

| When Mike was little, between months 2-4 we gave him a little meal around 11 pm, left some kibble for the night, and fed him first thing in the morning around 7am (and if he would wake up earlier then earlier), because he was little and with long fasting a few times he would throw up bile in the morning. Then gradually he stopped eating so late at night and now also sleeps late in the mornings, until we get up. I guess every pup is different and some may need extra meals. Also depends on the potty training.. we were lucky that even with late night meals he never did potty at night. |

| So many Yorkies out there and so many different personalities. That's one thing that makes them so special. |

| Isn't that the truth! When you have four you can really see how different they can be. Of what they can teach each other

After observation, treatment and testing in the hospital, the vet put him on a regimen of small, frequent meals every 2-3 hours day and night next eight weeks with frequent vet checks/tests, told her little Jot could die in his sleep due to very low glucose levels so don't miss any meals, even at night! They kept honey at the ready to rub on his gums for emergencies(this was B4 Nutrical) but thankfully never needed it. Jot got through all that and eventually could maintain his blood glucose levels with regular meals twice a day by the time he was 2 years old and became a hyperactive, always on the go, even hardy little athlete who could jump from the den couch to the love seat on a different wall of the den, despite his small 6 lb. size and despite their constant watchfulness/discouragement/orders not to try the jump of about 4 feet across the distance! The moment their backs were turned, Jot was on the loveseat without ever jumping down to the floor! Had to re-arrange den furniture to avoid an eventual injury as Jot WOULD always go for that jump and they knew one day he would eventually miss. https://metro-vet.com/references/hyp...breed-puppies/

| That's true from everything I've read or hear. OP has a 9 week old as well as an adult dog, so my post really was more about the baby.
