I think you'll figure out if you want to leave food out at night or not. My little eats around the clock. He will wake me up at anywhere from 11 pm to 3 am if he's hungry and his food bowl is empty. Some days he's more demanding than others. If your pup is a grazer like mine (as in taking a few bites whenever the puppy feels like it instead of eating a full meal), is very young, or very small, then I'd be concerned with their blood sugar dropping or them vomiting bile because their stomach is empty. I'd rather have food available for him to avoid these issues.
This may just be my little guy, and he does not need any additional potty breaks at night, but he is much older than yours. He has been eating at night since he was 12 weeks old.
