| I was casually viewing Petfinder.com looking at Yorkies available for adoption In my area. Usually Yorkies are hard to find in my area that are adoptable especially puppies. Most times they are a yorkie mix. Well I happen to come across two male Yorkers available that are 3 miles from where I live. One is 10 months old and the other is 4 months old. They are just so adorable in their pictures. I have been contemplating getting another yorkie but was not really expecting to find any one at this time. I would love to adopt both but I am hesitant because of the costs. I already have two and know how expensive they are. The major cost will be insurance for them. I already pay about 2K a year for Bella and Thumper. I can just imagine that doubling for two more. Food and pee pad costs will also go up along with all the other basic costs for caring for a dog. I don't know much about them as the website did not list any information. All it states was that the owner surrendered them. I need to call the shelter to find out more information. The earliest I could visit the shelter is next weekend. I am thinking if they are still available for adoption at that time I may go and take a look. If finances were not an issue I would grab them in a minute. I am just so conflicted. I always wanted three yorkies spread out in age. Also I never cared for a puppy as Bella and Thumper were already fully grown when I adopted them. Thank for listening to my ramblings. I just don't know what to do. Below are their pictures and adoption ad. https://www.bobbiandthestrays.org/dogs/baby-6 https://www.bobbiandthestrays.org/dogs/teenie

| They are both adorable. I can see why you would want them and also why you are so conflicted because of the cost. Yorkies just melt hearts when people see them. I know you'll make the right decision - what is best for them and what is best for you. |

| They are both adorable, and one of them is being advertised stating that he should go to a family with other dogs. As an owner of three dogs myself, I will tell you that there are certain circumstances (travelling, vet visits) which are MUCH more difficult with three...BUT, I will also tell you that I have never regretted having three at a time. You are aware, and have considered, the expenses, which tells me that you have given the matter some thought. If this is more than an impulse (which I still get from time-to-time myself), I say go for it!

| They are both adorable, as a previous owner of 3 I say go for it. The 10 month old states should be with another dog, that's what I would be looking at. at 10 months old the teething is over not like a 4 month old.I didn't find adding a 3rd to my pack any harder then the 2 I had. Mine were all girls and were 3 years apart. I however never traveled where my pups needed to be boarded, so 3 was never a issue, having 4 IMO will be harder and of course there is the financial side of owning 4. As a former Bronx gal I will say, these yorkies will go fast. If you are looking, you are able to swing it.

| Cost is definitely a big issue with four. I added up all the costs for the year just including blood work and vaccines and it will be about $1000. That doesn’t include insurance, heart guard, nexguard, and all of Callie’s skin infection and meds. I love all of mine but 4 is a bit much for me and I have help from family with taking them places and stuff. I love puppies but they are so much work lol. I think if we ever had an emergency it would be a huge deal trying to pack up 4 dogs and find somewhere we could stay with four dogs. That’s just the ugly of four lol there is lots of good too.

| You have to consider the costs because in order to truly love and home a dog in your home forever, you MUST responsibly consider whether you have adequate finances to cover basic pet costs but also one on the top of another emergency hospital visits, which can run around $700 to $1200 for basic few hours diagnosis in the ER, then add on the costs of additional testing, consultations, treatment, it's very expensive. With more than one dog, more than one ER visit can really break average budgets. I don't wait until morning if I see a problem with Tibbe so we've been to the Vet ER three times and each visit was a budget breaker in and of itself! So as much as I'd love another dog, I cannot imagine if I had to pay for two dogs' ER vet visits! So think before you love, for the sake of your dogs.

| Thanks all for the responses. I called the shelter today and they are no longer accepting applications. I guess it wasn't meant to be. I agree I need to also consider costs and not just go with my emotion. I will continue to casually look and eventually I will add to my expanding broad of dogs.

| Yes, the money is the thing to settle well before one gets a dog. The single thing I, and all other YT members, hate to see more than the "In Memoriam" posts about losing one of our babies are those threads of desperate new members who are putting off taking their sick/injured baby to the vet due to lack of funds. Which means some innocent little Yorkie somewhere is suffering, doing without needed treatment because his owner 'loved' too much, leaped before they looked - at their finances. And now they have a hurting or feverish, low-sick dog sorely in need of vetting that they cannot afford. I remember threads where their tiny puppy fell from the back of the couch or off their high bed and is limping or behaving 'funny', no funds for the vet and the member is looking for home remedies! In the memoriam posts, at least the dog is past all suffering and it's horrible their baby is gone but in the "my baby's had diarrhea for 3 days, been vomiting daily, hardly eating, what should I do?" thread, you just want to scream why in the world did they take a dog they couldn't afford to vet FIRST THING? Nothing makes me sicker to my stomach than to know that little Yorkie is out there somewhere sick, hurting, maybe mortally wounded, getting no diagnosis, no relief from its pain or illness while its irresponsible owner frets and there is nothing we can do about any of it. Those threads drive me - and no doubt all YT members, totally nuts.

| Its funny I actually was on FaceBook earlier and the rescue group I got Bella from was advertising a Yorkie as well. I have a wonderful relationship with them so I called to get more information. He is not right for me as he has a lot of medical issues and is older than I wanted. However, I let them know I am casually look and gave them my parameters. She said she will keep an eye out for me. She said Yorkies are hardly ever advertised because they go so fast but now that she knows I am looking will keep me in mind.
