Yes, the money is the thing to settle well before one gets a dog. The single thing I, and all other YT members, hate to see more than the "In Memoriam" posts about losing one of our babies are those threads of desperate new members who are putting off taking their sick/injured baby to the vet due to lack of funds. Which means some innocent little Yorkie somewhere is suffering, doing without needed treatment because his owner 'loved' too much, leaped before they looked - at their finances. And now they have a hurting or feverish, low-sick dog sorely in need of vetting that they cannot afford. I remember threads where their tiny puppy fell from the back of the couch or off their high bed and is limping or behaving 'funny', no funds for the vet and the member is looking for home remedies!

In the memoriam posts, at least the dog is past all suffering and it's horrible their baby is gone but in the "my baby's had diarrhea for 3 days, been vomiting daily, hardly eating, what should I do?" thread, you just want to scream why in the world did they take a dog they couldn't afford to vet FIRST THING? Nothing makes me sicker to my stomach than to know that little Yorkie is out there somewhere sick, hurting, maybe mortally wounded, getting no diagnosis, no relief from its pain or illness while its irresponsible owner frets and there is nothing we can do about any of it. Those threads drive me - and no doubt all YT members, totally nuts.
