| We have a skunk We have a skunk me and my dad pulled into the driveway last night to see something crawling under his big garage shed thing which is right next to the house so we sat for a minute and watched a skunk crawl out. First time I have ever seen a live one and I don’t want it spraying me or my pups. Any ideas of how to get rid of him and keep them away? We have three acres and also have a ground hog that bothers no one and he stays toward the back of our property so I don’t really want him gone but the skunk for sure. We also have lots of bunnies and I don’t want them to either. Any ideas would be appreciated.

| Can you block the garage shed opening with cinder blocks or pavers. You have to block off the entrance even if that means doing the entire shed. This has to be just before dark to make sure you are not trapping it in, skunks comes out just before it gets dark. What you do not want is for one of your pups to get sprayed. One of my girls got sprayed in the face while on a camping trip, the smell took my breathe away. Even with tomatoes juice bath the smell was not as strong but more bearable, next day off to a groomer, she came back with no stinky but the hair around her eyes still had a strong smell when you got close to her face, until that hair grew and could be cut off. She was called stinky pee-yew for months lol. If someone in your family has a bird feeder out, bird seed attracts skunks.

We also had a big Australian Shepard/Lab mix who got sprayed during the early evening. We did not have any tomato juice in the house, but did have a gallon jug of white vinegar. We carefully poured the vinegar down his back, and combed it through his coat, then rinsed, rinsed, rinsed. It took the smell out completely, and did not bother his skin or coat.

| Call your local animal control. They will come and set a trap. We just had to do that for a family of raccoons that moved under our shed. They told us they would be relocated

| I don’t think our animal control is that nice. We had a rabid raccoon and they told my dad to shoot it and make sure to double bag it when he threw it away. Then years later be called about a dead rabbit and they just said double bag it when you throw it away. My dad has a trap but obviously with skunks you gotta take extra precautions.

| You can hire someone that will set a trap out to catch this skunk, they will relocate it. You can check Home Advisor, Angies list even craigs list, or google wild life removal. Can't take the bunnies home away from them.

| Dad was in his shed for many hours today and didn’t see anything so fingers crossed he was just passing by and taking shelter from the over 6” of rain we got yesterday. I love watching the bunnies grow and everything. I even love watching the ground hog who hangs out under the magnolia tree during the day. He can move fast.

| When we had raccoons in our corn field, we had someone set a live trap containing ears of fresh sweet corn as bait. We didn't catch the raccoons, but we did catch a skunk. No one wanted to release it from the trap, so I opened up the trap myself to let the skunk go. He seemed very drowsy and walked away slowly without any problem. Skunks are really quite sweet so long as you don't menace them. You might find a local wildlife conservancy group who can trap the skunk for you. You could also trap it yourself. I put out a live trap (from a farm supply store) in my back yard to try to catch rabbits that were bothering my garden, and I caught squirrels, an opossum, a cardinal, and a blue jay. No rabbits, though. I released them all.

| All of the animals were quite angry about being trapped, except for the opossum, who just lazily walked away. The squirrels were the angriest--I had to be very careful when I released them because they were jumping and trying to bite me through the bars of the cage. The skunk was more like the opossum--you just have to coo to them and tell them how cute they are .

| The poor squirrels must have been frantic being trapped like that. I have to keep your experience in mind in case anyone I know wants to do their own trapping of wildlife.
