| Exposure Ideas for puppy Ok. So I guess since Ollie was with the breeder much longer then normal and that she didn't expose him to things he is behind on stuff and exposure. We are going to a puppy class and I am trying to take him to different places. He mostly freezes on the leash but I have got him walking a little on it but it's hard work. He has pretty much no confidence away from the others. He is getting sightly better but very slowly. I am looking for different ways to expose him to stuff and it anyone had any ideas. We have a pool so he has swam in that and I have taken him to the pet store so any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

| Our Home Depot opens at 6am and Wal-Mart is 24/7; I used to (well, actually, still do) take Piper early, early, early so she could get a "feel" for the place without too much human interference; employees tend to be quite respectful and careful of interacting with pups. Piper enjoyed the outings, plus it helped with our bonding cuz I was the only familiar thing if she did get a bit overwhelmed. As with your others, your new baby is beyond precious and adorable--and he looks to be a bit of a character!!! |

| I've generally been welcome with yorkie in tow at shops that do not carry food--that includes places like Best Buy and many specialty shops that you will find at the mall. Speaking of which, if you and Ollie are traveling with your stroller, walking the mall with him tethered to the stroller may be an option, regardless of whether you enter any of the shops. |

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | In addition to the great ideas you're getting for socialization, I was encouraged to expose mine to a lot of different surfaces -- grass, gravel, wet pavement, even puddles. Dog parks can be scary places, but maybe arrange a meetup with a known dog or dogs. Yorkies don't need much space, so you could meet in someone's yard. That's a shame the breeder kept them so long and didn't work on that -- proper socialization is about 90 percent of the reason I feel OK paying top dollar for a Yorkie.

| Oh yeah me too. My 11 year old Callie is 16 pounds, Joey (2) who I got as a 9 week old pup that had been to multiple homes before me is 10 pounds, Penny (almost 2) who I rescued at 8 months old that had been a gift for a child and was not wanted anymore is 12 pounds so Ollie fits in well.

| For some reason, I feel like Lowe's may not allow dogs anymore. Our few Home Depots do though. And any garden type store or feed store like a Tractor Supply.
