| ![]() I'm a worrier by nature. So I constantly worry about Freya. I'm a new parent, after all. The main thing I'm worried about is her level of security here. Today is Day 60 I've had her. Tomorrow she will be 7 months old. Her previous owner had her 3 months before I got her. I've had her two. I don't think she's fully settled in and secure. I'll explain some of the things she does: She mostly stays on her bed--I have two beds, one I get from her old home--I put on one end of my sofa. Only sometimes does she get down and wander. When I leave the room and come back, she's in the middle sofa standing there, which is fine, but when I approach, she scurries back to her bed. When she eats she moves around, never just staying at the bowl and finishing it. She doesn't make eye contact with me a lot. I have to get her attention. She STILL won't use her sofa steps to go down, only back up. She shakes and reacts to noises that are outside. I think that's about it lol. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=3&theater I don't want you to think she's a nervous wreck. She sleeps on or near me a lot. She gets playful and likes to play bite. She likes to lick my hand...a lot lol. |

| ![]() Daddy, relax. Dogs read body language. When you are tense, nervous, or worried, she will read you like a book and feed off your emotions. Now is the time for you to learn how to relax - do it for you and for Freya. You are an incredible doggie daddy. Believe in yourself so Freya can believe in you and settle in. |

| ![]() She might need to build more confidence and train will do that and bond you two closer. With my youngest we are trying to get him used to stuff because away from his siblings he is shy and scared like. You can also work on things like sit and down. Treats are your friend.

| ![]() Try to relax and remain patient; she already knows you love her--though maybe not how much! Piper was 3yrs when I brought her home and I think it took two to three months before she'd look me in the eye. Now she does the Yorkie 'laser' stare and I am compelled to do as she wishes!!! Better that you're aware and a little nervous, than not paying attention. Sounds like the two of you are a perfect match--she's just making very sure of you. YOU GOT THIS!!! |

| ![]() I would get rid of the bed she had from the previous owner, it may still have scents in it that remind her of them. Maybe they hollered at her if she was someplace she wasn't allowed to be and reason why she scurries back to the bed. My boy is a rescue, he was 2 1/2 years old when I got him, he came from a home where he was loved much but, there were things he was not allowed to do that I encouraged him to do when he came to me, example, seems he was allowed to sleep on the bed but not allowed to sleep next to the person that owned him. Every night I would pull him next to me and hold him there petting him and telling him good boy, as soon I took my hand off him he would scurry to the bottom of the bed. It took 10 months for him to snuggle against me and know it was ok. Your baby may need more time and praise when she does things you want her to do. Just relax and be patient with her, dogs do feed off our emotions.

| ![]() Mario likes to eat his food "to go"......still. We have had him over 3 years of his 4 year old life and he still likes to grab food out of his bowl and take it to the living room rug to eat it. I have read some dogs just do this. I stopped worrying about it ![]() ![]()

| ![]() My Gidget does the same thing. Sometimes she picks the piece up, lays it on the floor, picks it up again, throws it in the air, then eats it when it hits the floor again. What ever makes her happy is okay with me. In fact, it's kind of cute to watch her when she does this. Not all the time but occasionally. |
