| ![]() There is a website for looking up your pet's microchip to make sure it's in the system and can be easily found: Microchip Search | AAHA Universal Pet Microchip Lookup Attached are the results of my lookup of Bella's microchip number, and the information stored on the HomeAgain website.

| ![]() My dog has Homeagain and that seems a very good company. I used to pay the extra fee for goodies, but don’t anymore. One thing I got with this was an email describing lost dogs in my area. |

I understand one or more of the larger registries will require an extra fee to update your information (new address, etc.) if you aren't on the annual fee program. There are other large registers that state "no annual fee" outright. | |

| ![]() They are a great company! I don't pay the annual fee, but I was able to log in and update Bella's information a few minutes ago. I'll upload a photograph of her to the HomeAgain site when I get home from work.

| ![]() HomeAgain doesn't charge to update address changes or changes to your dog's description. I just updated Bella's records.

| ![]() We take the very best precautions that we can to make sure that they never are out of our sight and care; but if they were stolen to be resold, I would not want them to suffer (or possibly die) from someone doing them harm to remove a tracker. It is so hard to comprehend that there are people who are that evil out there!

| ![]() AKC Reunite does not require an update fee either, and they send reminders every year to check that all information and pictures are current. Beau is not AKC (CKC), but since he has a chip they let us add him to the account. Ty and Gus are registered under their AKC registry numbers.

| ![]() I had to look at the cards I carry in my wallet, but both my boys are with Petlink. I live in Mississippi (not that I know if that has anything to do with how it is chosen). The vet set up our accounts for us, and I update information that changes online. The vet also checks the chips every time we take the boys in for a visit, and their pictures are updated every year. |

| ![]() Update: I ordered an AKC chip (only) to be delivered to the breeder for installation. After talking this over with AKC, I'll opted to wait and pay for the lifetime AKC Reunite registration at the time I finalized the AKC registration. |

| ![]() My only concern is that your breeder has experience putting microchips in dogs. If they have a lot of experience, that's fine. Otherwise, you could have it done at the vet. There are a few quirky things about chip placement, and procedures they can do that will help prevent the chip from migrating. I could find all of the technical specifications for the HomeAgain chips--they have a special coating that helps prevent chip migration. I couldn't find any information about the AKC chips.
