| If they are still having issues you might want to talk to your vet about a different medicine. They make a lot of different allergy medicines. If either of your dogs have itching that medicine isn’t going to take care of that.

| Chlorpheniramine is an old school antihistamine like benadryl, so it can work, but there are more modern ones that might be better. And Cytopoint, of course, which is a new biologic.

| I'd love to find something more effective--as long as it doesn't have any negative impact. I just feel like the stuff Piper currently takes loses it's 'oomph' well before the 12 hour point; and it bothers me when Piper shakes her head so vigorously as medication wears off...What's a biologic? And thank you for sharing so much of what you've learned and researched. |

Basically, they are medicines that are produced by living organisms rather than chemically synthesized in the laboratory. In the case of Cytopoint, it's a monoclonal antibody that attacks the chemicals in the dogs that cause itching. It's an injection that lasts several weeks to two months. Here's an article on Apoquel and Cytopoint: Making a difference for dogs with atopic dermatitis: When to use Apoquel and when to use Cytopoint. Both have very few side effects, but Cytopoint is longer-lasting.

| We drizzle olive oil on Fabian's kibble in the AM. His coat was super shiny all winter long and he wasn't scratching at all. |

I also ignore people when they comment on my dogs' sizes. They always must ask if they are teacups. I just do a curt, nope they're Standard Yorkies and move along. I don't like explaining anymore. They only want to hear one thing. And when they hear me saying they're not teacups, they look at me like I'm the one who's crazy. It's interesting how many Yorkie owners out there don't know much about the breed. Quote:

| Have never had to deal with allergies so I can't be of any help. Hope you find something that works. We want our little ones to be happy and comfy. |

| Y’all are so funny! I wish I could like y’all response. Truth is they are an amazing breed, super loving. I too could care less of Milo was 3lbs or 20lbs. He is my best friend and I love that he is sturdy and playful and I wouldn’t trade him for anything no matter what people say! |
