| New Baby Hello! I need your help! We have a new grandbaby who is now 6 months old. My 9 year old yorkie barks and barks at him. We keep thinking it will get easier but it is getting worse. When my grandson visits our house my dog just goes crazy. She pants and barks so much that she foams at the mouth. I have never crated my Yorkie and when I try to put her up in another room she goes crazy being locked up too. Any advice out there? |

| Try not to show the baby more attention than your older dog. Sometimes taking them for a walk together helps. Walk fast enough to begin so they can,t concentrate on each other. When they burn off some energy, you may be able to slow down some some, but speed up if again if any trouble starts. Do everything first for the older dog, leash on/ off, treats, food. Good luck. Let us know how it goes!

| Your dog is not use to babies, they have a different scent then older children and adults. Try leaving an article of the babies clothing in the area your dog uses the most, she'll get use to the babies scent. Exchange it for a fresh item whenever the bay comes. Also a baby's fast kicking and arm movement may scare your pup, so I would keep an eye on her around your grandson.

| I had always been told by doggie trainers that how they are introduced is very important and needs lots of forethought. The item that smells like the baby sounds like a great idea

| I understand the intensity of your little girl as Piper demonstrates a similar manic focus on my mom's cat; if cat moves Piper is on it! Piper will do this weird whimper cry/bark and when she's in this mode it's like she's (literally) out of this world! No advice here, but I empathize and relate (even w/crate thing). Hopefully the good suggestions you rec'd from great members will do the trick! |
