| Looking for a big yorkie Hello folks, I'm looking for a yorkie but not a teacup one, I'd like a yorkie over 6 or 7 pounds most of the yorkie breeders on internet advertise teacup yorkies, it seems to me that only a few people like big size yorkies. Please if someone know a breeder Offering big yorkies let me know. I'd really appreciate it. Kind regards |

| All my now passed 4 yorkies were big girls, one at 9 Lbs, 2 at 13 my last girl was 17 Lbs, my adopted boy is 12 Lbs. breeders do NOT breed for larger yorkies. A reputable breeder breeds to standard size, 5 to 7 pounds, that is not to say a litter will not have a tiny or a larger to standard size pup. Today the craze is for tiny pups 3 pounds and smaller, that is why you see many unreputable breeders advertising for "tiny" dogs. There is no such thing as a "teacup" yorkie, that is just a name bad breeders use to charge big bucks for a small dog. Yorkies are in the toy breed, weights should be 5 to 7 pounds, there is one size only in yorkies and that is "standard" size. Sorry to say, you will not see any breeder advertising large yorkies. Look for breeders that breed for "standard" pups which is what you are looking for. When you do find a breeder that breeds for standard check the breeder out thoroughly. I adore the tiny babies, but prefer the larger ones I have had, they better suit my life style. It will take time to find that perfect pup, don't give up. Good luck.

| First of all, I suggest you avoid internet searches for a yorkie. The internet is flooded with bad breeders! Best place to start looking is on the YTCA website. Yorkshire Terrier Dog Breeders- Yorkie Puppies BUT, even there, you should carefully review the breeders. There is a disclaimer on the website advising you of that. I would ask for references...speak with people who have purchased pups from the breeder. And, always when buying a puppy, see where the puppy is living and see the parents. NEVER meet someone to purchase a puppy. There are SO many horrible breeders in Texas....there are good ones, but trust me when I tell you there are way more bad than good.

| There is no such thing as a teacup so any breeders using that word are bad. The standard is not to exceed 7 pounds so any reputable breeders will be breeding to have dogs around that weight range. If size is a big issue you might want to look at getting an adult or one from a shelter or rescue. Any one breeding for larger yorkies isn't a reputable breeder either.
