| Having a Yorkie and another dog I haven't really read if anyone has discussed this yet so I'm just wondering if anyone who has a yorkie with another dog has trouble training the yorkie (just to listen) because the Yorkie is too interested in the other dog? Ella loves my pomeranian Timber (5) so she follows him around, only listens to come when I call his name. She just wants his attention and avoids my commands because of this. Does anyone have suggestions?? Please and thank you!! |

| YES! I have a pug Bailey and Brandy is my yorkie. Bailey used to listen better and do tricks better before Brandy came along. If they're both together and I'm trying to get bailey to do tricks she will jump all over and try to get my attention, distracting Bailey. I have found it's very IMPORTANT to give each one, one on one attention. If we're outside, sometimes I will put one on the other side of the fence. If we're inside I put one on the other side of the baby gate. They are easier to train when they're not competing for attention. Come is one of those things you have to teach individually. |

| You need to train her AWAY from your Pom. Take the distraction away. Then once she has learned her commands, introduce distractions such as treats or toys and let her master obeying you and not bothering them. Once she gets that, then introduce your Pom. again. Chances are after all that she'll do great at listening to you.

| I also have a pom and a yorkie. My 2 fave breeds.. hehe Anyways.. I havent really noticed that.. but BOTH want to be the center of attention, so where you can find one, you can most likely find the other. hehe

| Thanks, we used to have a cat named Cali but she moved to Tucson with her parents. I just think my yorkie ella grew up in an animal house it's easy for her to be her tyrant self (which I love her for). I guess that's my excuse. But I do need to spend separate time with each so she can follow instruction, on her own!!!! |

As for training to begin a command start with your yorkie along but we like to make it a game for reinforcment with both of them, this way riley can brush up on her training, and they take turns and make it a bonding game... sometimes riley helps and pushes titus's bum down when he dosn't sit fast enough for her!!! | |
