| Natural stuff can some times be more dangerous. Trifexis is dangerous. I use nexguard for fleas and tick then I use heartguard for heartworms and no issues.

| Sorry to hijack this post! Is there a tick treatment anyone recommends that will actually repel ticks? I've been using Frontline but found a live, attached tick on Monroe this past weekend... we had only been in a friends backyard but ticks are terrible here apparently. I'd love to find something that will stop them from even biting. Any recommendations on treatment to repel or possibly something safe to spray in the yard? |

| Triflexis has had some issues. Check with your vet. We use Revolution for small dogs.

| I use revolution because of the heart worm protection as well, however I live in an area where tics are abundant and since our babies are so small and close to the ground I also apply (3weeks) apart advantixII. Since the weather has been wet and warm my little guy has already gotten 6 tics. I applied advantixII five days ago and it claims tics will die within 48 hrs and kill off any eggs. A veterinarian tech gave me a tip once and sadly his. Odd heard him, he lost his job the next day. What vets don't want you to know is if you can see the tic and cannot get the entire body and head with legs out, just put Vaseline on it. This prevents them from breathing through your dogs skin and they pop out within hrs. Just yesterday my 6 month old 6 lbs had a tic on his bare skin right next to his penis. Not wanting to miss or injure my pup I put drawing salve on. Within 1 hr. The entire tic came out just leaving a small amount of redness which has cleared up over night. With yorkies and their longer black hair the tics are harder to see but you can feel them. To be safe I try to find the area where the tic is spreading his hair and applying a large amount of Vaseline over the tic before I try to pull it out. If the tic is still whole and not inserted itself fully into your dogs skin you can use your finger nails to remove it, making sure the head is out as well. Even if you feel you have removed the entire tic I still put Vaseline on the top to be sure and at times you will be surprised some of the tic was still there but comes out with the Vaseline or drawing salve which has worked quicker than any other gel or cream I used before. I hope this information has helped. I'm sorry for the lengthy reply. |

| Yes I have checked with the vet and this had worked for the past 15 years on all of my dogs Yes I do have a tic lasso and it's harder to work with rather than my fingers or tweezers My Yorkie goes crazy using any type of tool especially scissors so the groomer has quite a time with hkm because he absolutely freaks out at the site of them When revolution provides is approx one drop Sling it hard to understand how it even works Since I am in a highly populated area with every type of tic possible I do my best so I do g think I am over dosing It's better for the tic to come out immediately when possible. When left they leave a calf and hideous swollen spot on your doga. Thanks for the info on tics not laying eggs, how do the procreate then? Thankyou but if it's not broken, not gonna fix it! Removed the tic within one hr so I'm thankful for my little remedy as I was just putting out there the process I personally use and trust. Not saying anyone else should it's my choice. Going to bed now so excuse me to anyone else that had a comment I will reply tomorrow |
