| Meet Davinci Hello everyone! Just wanted to introduce my lil pup ! He just turned 3 months last week. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced that there yorkie pup is an excellent climber? Along with any suggestions?I have been using a dog gate to keep him confined. When i have to step out, only to find him over the gate. I went and bought a new gate with just straight bars & he clears that with out a thought! |

| Welcome to YT, did you not read up on the yorkies breed? they are part monkey lol. If you block them off with any obstacle they are determined to get over it, around it, under it,through it lol, they are very lil clever imps lol, that's why we love them so much.

| I recently felt your frustration! In January, we adopted a 4 month old brother and sister. The boy, Basil, within a few days climbed the doggie gates. We solved the problem by draping a quilt over the gates and putting a chair in front of the gates. For some reason, he didn't chew or pull the quilt down. It took him about 2-3 weeks to get MY message...a gate means "stay". ha He and his sister will be 6 months old tomorrow...he doesn't even attempt to climb the gate even though he stands up against it wagging his tail! Hope this gives you an idea and hope. Good luck Anise's, Basil's & Ginger's Mom |

| lol you might try to record him just to see, sometimes it's really funny and surprising how these dogs get out. I've seen a video of two corgis in their kennels and one got out by jiggling the latch on his cage and then he got out and unlatch the other's door lol

| Is he going over or through? Sasha was so small she fit through the bars. I had to put a sheet of plastic over the bars to keep her in

| Welcome & congrats!!! Monroe was successful getting over the x-pen a few times when she was a puppy. Luckily, she stopped that on her own pretty quickly. Like matese said, Yorkies are little tricksters! I am constantly astonished by the things my girls can accomplish when they want to. If a taller gate doesn’t work (and you’re sure he’s going over & not through) you might try a big crate. I kept my Pugs in the large crate I used to train my GSD. They absolutely loved it and would eventually fight over it when I started leaving them "loose". Can't wait to see pics of your baby!!! |

| The 1st gate was just a normal wooden gate that was 23 inchs tall. My son put the puppy's crate in front of the gate to discourage him which worked for 24 hrs lol. He then climbed the crate and then the gate! My son then went and bought another gate with the straight up and down bars as someone had suggested that he would not be able to climb it. Well they were right, but b/c it was only 18 inch he jumped it like a mini pony! Lol Last nite i bought another gate that is 31 inchs tall. No sooner than I stepped back to say YES I should have bought this a while ago. He stepped thru one of the bars as if he had magic powers! lol |

| I know for a fact that when I first brought my baby Casie home at 5 months, 4 lbs, she was able to scale any that was like a mesh, no problem. It was hilarious (and scary) when I caught her in the act, feet dangling and trying to climb over. I had to be creative and put up a solid barricade using boxes. Of course, then she started to tear up the boxes (it's not a favourite past time of hers if I ever leave large cardboard boxes around). It was one challenge after another. Really got my creative juices flowing. Ahh..the good old puppy days. They are like little Houdini's!
