| Update on Thumper and getting a new dog I want to thank everyone who has been supportive of me and Thumper. It hasn't been easy but he is improving each day. I call it his new normal. He is off all anti-anxiety meds. His eating and potting habits have changed but I hope they will continue to improve over time. I take him on Saturdays to a playgroup with other dogs and he is flourishing. He really misses being around others. I just hate leaving him alone during the week. he looks so sad to me. I have been looking for a new dog as not only does Thumper want a friend I want one. Not to replace Boomer but just to give us more joy. I have two possibilities. I am waiting to hear back from a rescue group regarding a meet and greet for yorkie named Bella who is 18 months used as a breeder and then surrendered. I am told she is in excellent health, potty trained, and very friendly. The other option is a 3.5 year old male named Chewie that was surrendered because his owner because very ill and can no longer care for him. I have a home visit on Saturday and if all goes well will set up a meet and greet. I will see what happens as both have a lot of interest so even if the meet and greet goes well anything can happen. I am trying not to get my hopes up.

| Oh, that is such wonderful news--for all concerned! Smooches for that strong little Thumper--such a little trooper. So happy to hear a new family member is in the offing...You do Boomer much honor! "You can't replace one dog with another any more than you can replace one person with another, but that's not to say you shouldn't get more dogs and people in your life." |

| I am having a meet and greet for Bella tonight at my home. She is as cute as a button based on the pics. The foster mom says she is one of her favorites. Loves to play and snuggle. I am hoping it works out. I am just nervous about her size. The foster mom said she was small. I don't know what she means about that as she couldn't tell me how much she weighs.

| Thumper's new friend Thanks so much for keeping us up to date on how you and Thumper are doing. Things are looking much better from what you say and I am so pleased for you both. A new friend in the making is just what the two of you need. I hope one of these two will fit the bill. Blessings to you both. I look forward to seeing how it will turn out for you both. And when you can send us photos of the new family.

| We had the meet and greet this evening. Thumper and Bella got along really well. Thumper kept putting his butt in front of her to sniff and his tail was wagging a mile a minute. It was adorable. Bella is very skinny and small. I would say no more than 4 pounds. i can feel her spine. Hopefully if I adopt her and get her on the right food she will gain some wait or at least bulk out. She is very long in length but short. She had some trouble walking on my hardwood floors and kept sliding. She also seemed to like the feel of my furniture and walls because she kept brushing herself up against them. Has anyone ever experienced that? I had a flash back of Boomer because it reminded me of what he was like before I had to put him down not being able to stand up and constantly falling down. I asked the foster mom if she does this at her home and she said no. My first thought was something could be wrong with her neurologically. I think I have read too many stories on Yorkietalk. I just emailed the rescue group and asked about next steps because she still needs to be fixed and the ASPCA will take care of that. I also asked if she has already been seen by a vet to determine if there are any serious medical issues. Is blood work normal to be done on dogs in a rescue/shelter? I really want to adopt her as she is really cute. On another note I do have a home visit with another rescue group tomorrow morning so if this does not work out I still have other options out there.

| Awww Thumper was happy to meet little girl, shows how much he needs a companion. My last girl would rub her body against the sofa, turned out to be food allergy's, my vet gave her a shot, and changed her food and that stopped. I had another girl that would roll and rub her body on toys, she was marking her scent on them lol. Could be this pup is putting her scent on your things, claiming them as hers, just a thought based on my experience with my girls. I can't say if blood work is "normal procedure at rescue/shelters" I have never had dealings with shelters/ rescue facilities. Hopefully you will get answers on that. In my opinion, I would "think" dogs entering shelters would go through a physical with blood done "before" going to foster care to make sure dog is healthy enough to be adopted. Sliding on hardwood floors lol, they have no traction lol, Cody does that in the kitchen, he knows he can't run around in there, she may need her nails clipped, long nail will cause sliding and slipping, you can put down some carpet runners or area rugs. I would suggest asking the shelter if you can take her to YOUR vet for physical and blood work "before" you commit to adopting her, but doing this will free her up to be adopted before getting the results of the blood work. Adopting a dog is like buying a used car without your mechanic checking it out, it's like a "buy as is".

Thumper and Boomer never had a problem walking so this is new for me. I plan on getting Pet Insurance and then waiting for the period of time to take her to the vet before getting blood work just to make sure it will all be covered if by any chance there is something seriously wrong. I am still waiting to hear back from the Rescue Group so all of this is still hypothetical. Now we have a home visit with Yorkie Rescue 911 and if approved I can adopt one of their dogs potentially. Additionally, I am in contact with another rescue group about a small 2 year old terrier mix that I may be able to adopt. So lots of options out there. I will find Thumper a companion. I just want to find the right one that fits our family and is in the best possible health. Realizing when you rescue nothing is a guarantee.

| How sensible and loving of you to let your logic and common sense prevail, as that will ensure you get Thmper the best and right little buddy. It'd be easy to let emotions cloud good judgement during the process of choosing a pooch. You're a selfless and wonderful 'momma.' Whatever decision you make will be the right one! |

| I'm so happy that you're getting Thumper a companion. One of my dogs, Bijou, is the type of dog that thrives and does really well when he's with other dogs he can play and spend time with. It's one of the best things for him and he seems so much happier rather than being the only dog in the house. Now with my other two dogs, even though they have bonded with each other and Bijou, they're just fine to be alone. It doesn't seem to affect them as much. Maybe it's just personality differences. I don't know. But it is really something when you see a dog that just begins to flourish and do so well just by having a friend with them, a friend of the same species. |
