| I don't know. But I'd be going to the vet clinic right away. |

| If this popped up suddenly, I would head to the emergency vet right now. Keep us posted.

| It could be mange so i would separate her from other dogs. Anyway she could have gotten burned/blistered? I myself would feel ok waiting until vet opens in the morning if the dog is acting normal and eating and drinking. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Looks like a "hot spot", which is just a laymen term for localized pyoderma (staph intermedius overgrowth in dogs). Is it only in that one spot then? Does she suffer from allergies (any paw licking or chewing)...?

| To me it doesn't look like something you should go to the emergency vet for and it doesn't look like an immediate pop up "rash". It could be mange, it could be a hot spot, it could be the a reaction to a bug bite but if the dog is not displaying any signs of trauma or distress, save your money and make an appointment for your regular vet. Let us know what he/she thinks.

| That looks very much like an allergy. It must itch badly. Get her to the vet. They can giver her an injection of steroid to back it off but you need to find the cause. An allergy can develop at any age. If she has developed a flea allergy even one flea walking on her can cause horrible reactions. It doesn't have to be a big infestation. Trim the hair off everywhere there is a trace of skin irritation. Give her a bath in something mild or all natural or wash just the effected area with wet gauze. You can put coconut oil on the area to help loosen any dead skin. I hope it is just fleas. It's a lot of work but you can deal with them. A food allergy can be more difficult to detect. |
