Senior Yorkie Talker | Help I have 3 yorkies. 1 boy 1 girl they are brother and sister and I have their mom. They are all fixed. My problem is the smallest one is the unruly one. Although she has a very small bark she sure knows how to use it . She also whiney too. She also is one that wants to run around me tie the lease around my legs . Very rough playing .I have tried short lead and a 10 ft lead . Would just like to go for a normal walk. So tired of being pulled and yank around. Makes my back so sore. |

| Try attaching the leash to the front of the harness. Some harnesses have rings or clips or whatever at the front. Or you can buy a clasp ring thing at a home hardware type of store and make it yourself. For awhile one of my dogs had the hardest time walking nicely and constantly correcting him and even using treats didn't help. So I altered the buddy belt harness I have for him by adding a ring clasp thing to the front of it, and he walks right beside me now because if he pulls it will spin him around. So that taught him not to pull. And now he's a great walker and he just got accustom to walking beside me. |

| I feel as though I didn't articulate what I meant to say very well, so I've attached a picture to show what I mean. And also I'd say, if you do end up altering a harness and getting something from a hardware store, make sure you get something that you are comfortable with using. I've had the clasp on a leash fail before. The ones with the spring in them I believe can get kinda loose. But this has been the one thing that has made my one bad walker a great walker. And I think the makers of the harnesses that have a ring at the front of them realize that. From there it's just making sure the length of the leash isn't too much that your dog steps over it. It should just dangle half way down in front of their body. Now you'll have a dog that's good at loose leash walking right beside you instead of pulling and yanking you around! |

| You need to spend some time teaching her to walk on a leash by herself.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I would suggest you attend an obedience training class with her - have you tried that...?

Senior Yorkie Talker | Help Thank you all so much for the lessons on trying to train my bad walker into a good one.going to give the front ring harness a try and also the spring latch has also worried me too, I see you use the handle part section as the catch ,I'm trying that too, I'm sure they all would run if they got loose. They think they are miniature rottweilers. Thank you all so much at my age 70 they have been quit a hand/lap full. My Emma is the hardest she is the boss and wants to please but has to be her way |
