I'm waiting until I get my hands on that recipe and also, for her to accept the missing link powder- it's a great additive. I bought her a multi-vitamin to bridge the gap. My #$#$# husband didn't listen to my instructions and gave her a lot more than a freaking half of a vitamin. It was just for a few days to get some vitamins into her, and he goes and says well, it was ONLY 60% instead of the half. well, tough. there is a reason why a company will say half.

Any way, the only reason why I'm even remotely worried is because I tend to avoid anything that says brewers yeast or any yeast products. It was in the vitamins and had good reviews so I decided that for a bridge gap and some in the cupboard for these situations wouldn't hurt.

I now understand fully which foods to avoid and which foods are harmful in large quantities, such as broccoli, garlic, or onions. Yeast I'm still very fuzzy on.

I wouldn't worry about the yeast too much, it's not harmful. Many people take it as a general supplement too. She'll be oaky

Should all Yorkies take vitamins? Is there something that is like daily vitamin? Should I be giving Piper vitamins? Overall, Pipe is good, but I want to ensure I'm giving her what she needs. Thanks so much for always being so kind in answering questions!

If you giving them a dog food it's is properly balanced so you don't need to ad anything.

You're doing great! I have to until we have that recipe for home fixed dog food. She is one of the single most stubborn sweeties I have ever come across. She eats Fromms- if they are given in treat form and we thought- GREAT! No. She turned her nose up at that as food and waited two days, and wouldn't give in. She very definitely is NOT getting proper nutrients on boiled hamburger and rice/pasta/potatoes/oatmeal that I give her (or any other combo of meat, not always hamburger) So the vet approved the multi-vitamin on the days she won't eat the nutri-cal in her food, which she will do if in the mood to. I just needed a bridge gap until we got the properly balanced medical home cooked food. Matter of fact vet was absolutely adamant on me not continuing with the vitamin once food is cooked properly.

Technically, they shouldn't really need one bc pretty much all dog food on the market is balanced according to AAFCO standards. But some people still like to give supplements. I personally take a ton of supplements...but believe me, my diet is not balanced or proper at all, lol

...so I do think I need it. Whereas w/ my dogs, I feel they get a much better balanced diet for sure, so I only give them oil and some dental additive.

Gosh, thank you all for your very helpful response to vitamins. Piper's coat is good, her little eyes are bright and she has plenty of energy, so in spite of her best efforts, I reckon she's getting what she needs via chow (and treats). Thanks again excellent information!

Don't not worry I hear that yeast is a natural reaper ant for fleas and ticks too. Lots of dog treats have yeast in them.
