| Looking for Pet Female We bought our first Yorkie in 1989 from a reputable show breeder in Texas, Lee Grunewald. We have had Yorkies ever since. We recently lost one of our two precious little girls and are heart broken. Our remaining little girl, Daisy, is grieving along with us. We are now in the process of searching for another little girl. I have sent emails and/or called most of the breeders in Texas and nearby states on the YTCA site. We would prefer to get a young female, not a puppy, because Daisy is 8 years old and not sure how she will be with a baby. It seems it will be easier to find a puppy, and we are not totally opposed to that. We just want a pet, but a healthy, baby face type. If anyone can help us, we would love to hear from you. | Rescues have adult yorkies so that maybe a good place to look.

| I've been searching for a female too (but a puppy) and I noticed a lot of breeders are selling some females at a year old because they kept them to breed but they turned out to be too tiny so it's more common than you'd think to get one from a breeder. also, like lovetpdream88 says, rescues are another option. |

| ive been looking in NJ and the neighboring states. But if you go to puppyfind.com you can filter by location and by birthdate and then just look into the breeder and make sure they're reputable. I just put some example links below. I know it's frustrating trying to find the right dog. When I was looking for my boys all I saw were cute girls. Now that I'm looking for a girl I can only seem to find cute boys! Lol I hope you find what you're looking for! | Yeah I know there are a lot of bad breeders on there but I the one I got my dogs from Is AKC registered, sells healthy dogs, has all positive reviews, and is reputable/responsible and she was posting on there, it's how I found her.i did also see a lot of cute puppies that I didn't get because I looked into the breeders and didn't like what I saw. You still definitely have to do your research but it can be a start. I think it's like searching overall, sadly there seems to be more bad than good. |

| Just starting out, trying to read and learn about Yorkies. I believe it would be a good fit. I'm looking for a small dog that doesn't shed a lot. I'm in no rush and still absorbing info, which there seems to be a TON of! And in Las Vegas, we are in the hot season, so I would wait until the fall, which would also give me more time to prepare. I haven't had a dog in many years as it was just too much with my career. I'm now retired and can spend a lot of time with her/him. Anyway, I see that someone posted a negative about puppyfind. How does one go about finding a 'good' breeder in my area? I would never buy a dog just from pictures alone, so that is somewhat limiting I suppose. If the seller on any site/search posts that the parent(s) are on site and you can visit, isn't that the best way to go? Any insights appreciated! |
