| Fights medication We've tried the burrito. It works, after her flapping around like a crack addict. It's dangerous and she's going to hurt herself. The Flagyl (we have generic and it's the one that starts with an M- downstairs in the fridge) I asked the vet tech point blank if I could put it in her food. she said I wouldn't unless she eats right away, but, it's still not a good idea. Well, what am I supposed to do? have my hubby hold her while she flings herself around and vaults off his lap, like the second time? or last night where she almost knocked her head against the arm of the couch? I finally gave in and gave her half dose on my hand with cottage cheese, and the other with a teaspoon of pumpkin, that she was going to be given any way. This med is nasty, and on top of it, it keeps her confined. She isn't a fan. I know this isn't the board for it, but I really need help with this. Not even my autistic son was THIS bad, and we had to burrito HIM and open is jaw. Thanks!!! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Is it liquid, is that why you have to force it? I'm assuming so. Otherwise if it's a pill, you can give w/ peanut butter or cheese. But yes, you could absolutely just put it on the food if she eats it up at meal time - that's totally fine! I've had to use Metro / flagyl before too and I always did the food thing. Isn't it just AMAZING how strong these tiny little things can be when they're trying to fight something...? I mean, seriously!!! Strength of gorillas!

| Yes, and i put it in her mouth; after she's done flinging herself around in the burrito. twice now she's almost hurt herself. Launching off husband's lap, and then last night with her head. It's simply not working. she's anxious, and is taking her milkbones, hiding them, unearthing them, and howling. This happens when she senses it's close to med time. I can't calm her down easily and had to remove the bones. Right now it's 15 minutes until her meds and she's searching around for the bones. I feel for her. I'm sure she's very confused. She's a fantastic puppy, and is rarely reprimanded for anything, as she's a good dog. She doesn't understand that she can't tell us "no" for this. I know it's for her own good, but I hate that she's upset. However, the medication administration is a huge problem. I can't see a way around giving it to her in her food. |

| I just now put it in a bit of pumpkin and cottage cheese.. and.. she only probably downed half. Problem is she didn't get it in a meal. Lunch isn't until 3pm. I'm confident that with bananas or a meal it'll get in her. I just shrugged and thought, fine, half dose. third day. she's fine. I'll do it later on tonight as planned. called vet just to be safe. That being said, what is a piece booty? Interesting. |

| She would LOVE that. This puppy is a chip addict. I read extensively on the package, so it's plain pringles. She'll come a-runnin' from any where in the house if any chip bag is opened, OR if it SOUNDS like a chip bag is opened. I should try the booty, as I have the individual small bags in the cupboard. |

| With the liquid meds we had to give Bella, we would dilute the liquid in carrot juice, which is something she loves anyway. She lapped it up and was never the wiser that she had been taking her meds.
