| Puppy took few sips of coffee My vet is closed today and I'm not sure what to do. Just made a cup of coffee and I've put it on the table... and somehow my puppy managed to hop on the chair and took couple sips of the coffee.. what do I do? Should I be worried? I know that caffeine can be lethal for dogs and I read 150mg per 2.2lbs is lethal and that normal cup of coffee has 100mg... Help :/ |

| If he acting ok in my opinion he should be fine. I'm sure he didn't get that much before you noticed. Bella will drink anything. Tea, soda, milk, water, juice, etc. She has never had any effects from it. |

| Was the coffee black or did it have cream or milk and sugar in it. If it had milk, 1/2 & 1/2 or powered coffee lighter like coffee mate and had sugar in it your pup is ok. If if was black with nothing added I hope someone with more knowledge on black coffee affects on dogs comes along to offer up info.

| My brother drinks black coffee, with just a tsp of sugar in it, I drink "coffee milk, with (too much!)sugar and lots of CoffeeMate.....mine have lapped up some of mine in the past and never had an issue....doesnt happen daily, and it isnt even 1/4 measuring cup full between two-three dogs, and they have done this for YEARS, couple of times a week, with no issues! For last several years, since I put a computer at the desk in my kitchen, they have not done this....they have to wait until I sit in my recliner, put my tea or coffee-milk on the table next to my chair, then I forget and go to the kitchen or laundry room, etc.....they SPRING into action,......it is amazing they have not yet turned the cup over yet! | not sure why i'm not getting email notification.. spent last couple hours listening to his heartbeat, making sure he was ok.. lol but it was extra dark roasted coffee with bit of coconut syrup and white chocolate bailey creamer in it. he seems fine now, but i was freaking out earlier since he was pretty sleepy after walk, and he would not wake up no matter how many times i called for him and poked him... but once my friend came over, he sprang into action.. i thought i was going to have a heartattack. i'm not even sure how he ended up on the table.. he never done it before... i guess he smelled that coconut and really wanted it.. lol. :/ i hope this won't affect him somehow.... he's been a bit naughty lately eating things from the floor, and even swallowing down 4 inch bully stick when i tried to take it away since it was getting so small... gotta control this somehow... :/ i'm hoping this is just a phase.. |

| Just when I think I know Piper, I don't--Like thinking oh, she never goes there or would never take this...And then fast as lightning, she'll grab something or run somewhere and I'm panicking thinking what the hell happened; I was so sure I was safe in leaving this or that for second. I'm learning that my girl is not to be trusted to behave in any given way based on past history. I don't know if she's just brilliantly deliberate in her antics (keeping me on my toes) or if she has an amazing timing-thing going on! |

YT 1000 Club Member | My daughter's puppy got into a cup of coffee when she was younger and she drank a little bit of it. She was hyper for 4 hours but no long term effects from it. I would not worry too much and just remember to put your cup in a safer place next time. We don't drink coffee at our house so it happened at a friends house. Our house we have tea and my puppy has managed to get a lick or two of my tea. I was not going to drink it but my husband didn't want to let it go to waste so he finished up the cup. LOL
