| What's the perfect color? I was only wondering what the color of a Yorkie is suppose to be? I've seen Black and Tan, black tan and white, gold and steel blue with a little silver. Many different colors! So what is the "right" color? |

| For me the perfect color is the dark steel blue with shaded wedding ring gold furnishings. In addition to the proper color the yorkie coat should be the right silk texture. I see many yorkies that appear steel blue in color but the gold not correct and the coat does not reflect light like a true silk coat should.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | yes I love that light reflection even dirty Razz will gleam reflect light. I find it interesting that the standard says Tan and yet many of us refer to the markings as gold. To my eye it the correct color is closer to gold then tan.... I wonder how come tan is in the standard and not gold....

| I do think it gets confusing between the blue and gold and blue and tan. I had a show breeder tell me that blue and tan was more like a darker shaded gold where the gold is darker at the roots. I think the blue and gold is just a lighter shade. Basically as nice silk coat will hang very straight and it will have a lot of shine when a light is shined on it. Also a silk coat will feel very cool to touch.

I often describe it as like a silk pure silk scarf and how it slides over your hand. Many knowledgeable judges do just that when they lift the coat and slide it over their hands. And yes silk is cool to the touch

| It sounds like lady (my pup I'm getting) has a great coat. Now what about the body? My pup has a longer body. I've seen some that have shorter bodies and round. My little girl is long, not real long, and thin. She's only 4-41/2 lbs. |

| The breeder told me Lady's coat never tangles. Is this true for a silk coat? |

| Silk coats can get tangled, just like use humans hair can get tangled if not brushed. Silk coats don't mat like many of the cotton coated dogs do. I have seen some coats that are not true silk that do not mat easily. It really all depends on the thickness and texture of the coat.

| Her hair is thin although she has a lot of hair. It's real soft and I can just run my fingers through it. When I saw how long it was that's when I asked if it tangled. She said she combs it every morning and evening and it doesn't tangle. |

| She looks sweet. Her coat does look silky. How old is she?
