| Need help potty training My 2 y/o was doing great using her pee pads (for both #1 and #2) but now she goes on my carpet in my living-room or at the end of the hall. My husband spanks her and it has not helped. I don't always take her outside because there're huge hawks and I'm afraid they would swoosh her up so I have to be with her and watch her all the time. How can I make her stop using my carpet? |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hi and welcome to YT . First, PLEASE STOP THE HITTING of this poor little one. Abuse/hitting/spanking will only make it worse, so that's probably already damaged her training, learning, and comprehension right there. Hitting does absolutely nothing except confuse and scare them - which hugely impacts their ability to learn. | Oh NO - please, no more hitting Can you imagine how enormous and threatening your husband looks in comparison to your little one? Can you imagine the strength of his hand on her little body? I would personally take her outside more often - but with her harness and leash on so that you're always in total control.

| OMG! How can someone spank a dog? That is not going to help the situation in the least. Your dog needs praise and encouragement, not to be abused. You can say NO!!! in a very angry voice and let them know you are unhappy with what they have done, but under NO circumstances should a dog EVER be hit or spanked. Spanking is NEVER going to help train your dog. You may have to go back to crate training. Get a doggie playpen and put the pups bed, and potty pad (the UGO potty is a GREAT one) and water dish inside. Buy a Puppy Housebreaking Spray and spray the pee pad with it. Good luck. |

| I think you need to give your dog treats and let her feel loved the most when she behaves. Spanking will not work, it will just make her afraid to go to the party. Every time she goes to party either number one or two, give her treats and praise her. She needs to be pampered like a child! |

| I find the more praise you give the more they want to do what they were praised for. And treats are good but I limit giving treats to mine because she gets diarrhea from them. |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | of my pototy training books it says that if you feed them where they are going to the bathroom they will stop, as they don't potty where they eat - so try feeding her where she is going on the carpet. But by no means do not hit her please, do this by their on nature and positive reinforcement.
