Senior Yorkie Talker | Considering a Second Yorkie, issues??? We have a little gem in Jack Daniel, we just love him, his disposition is wonderful. We take him with us everywhere. I have the Kelsey Crossbody Dog Bag, which he loves to be in, even naps in it at home, and he loves to go out in it. We have taken a cross-country car vacation and he was a gem of a traveler. We stay at my in-laws occasionally (live 6 hrs away) and he & their border collie get along great. Jack is 11 months old, and the breeder now has a new litter from Jack's same parents. We feel like Jack would love a little brother to play with, and this opportunity has presented itself to have another who would probably be of similar disposition as Jack. Finally the question: How to juggle 2 dogs when away from home? Jack is 3.5lbs. and we'd take another charting to be about the same size or alittle smaller full-grown. Is it practical to take 2 dogs in one bag on errands, as I take Jack now. How is it traveling with 2? I'd love any advice to help us decide whether or not to give our Jack a little brother.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Well, I now have 4 dogs, lol....3 yorkies and one totally and perfectly neurotic little rescue chi. We only had 2 for a long time, and I'd say that's the ideal number, by far. With 2 dogs, you can still travel with them in-cabin when flying; most hotels will take 2 small dogs...but not 3+ etcetera. So, I didn't find having 2 much harder with travel and all that. So I'd say, get one! I shall enable you completely .

| Hi, I have a Yorkie and a Poodle, I take mine most everywhere and do fine. Both travel well (I have the console car seat thing that both fit in to ride), and I have their stroller, both of these things for me have been priceless with 2 furbabies. I now can't imagine not having two. I think you will be fine, and they are adorable playing and tussling together.

| My husband and I want another Yorkie as well; however, we have issues different than yours. Our only child teenage son is very resistant to another. He thinks Zeus is perfect. My husband and I love Zeus's disposition and would want another with a similar temperament. I'm not sure how one would judge that in puppies. Zeus is very docile and sweet. Our neighbor's got a nephew of Zeus's from the same man, and he is a wild beast. Way too manic for us. The traveling part wouldn't be that bad, since we don't travel too far. We go from home in Mississippi to one of two places -- back home to Alabama to visit family or to Destin, Florida for vacation. Good luck to you. Maybe someone will have advice for me as well! |

| I have three and wouldn't have it any other way. They love each other and keep each other company. I do travel with them when we go to our other property and I have not really noticed any difference in having one, two, or three. Traveling is the same to me. Now keep in mind, I only go in the car no flying. I would get more except my husband would divorce me! Haha. I think you will love seeing the bond that the two will have with each other. The only thing better than one yorkie is two! (Or three lol). Good luck with your decision.

| Well, I have 3 and a hedgehog.....so I may not be the best person to ask. Having said that, I love having more than one. (except on bath day....definitely don't enjoy this on bathurday)

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | I have had two for some time and love it. There are some potential problems to be aware of, but from my perspective nothing insurmountable. We added a second when my first, Eddie, was 2 years old. Eddie was always the sweetest dog with no signs of aggression. Well, when we added 10-year-old Jack, I discovered Eddie was a toy hoarder. He started beating up Jack (or trying to!) when Jack even looked at one of Eddie's toys. I spent a lot of time and energy on it, but Eddie eventually learned to get along. When Jack left us, I got a puppy, Jillie, when Eddie was about 5. Eddie started up the same old jealously. But I'd had the benefit of getting through the Eddie-Jack issues, so it didn't take long for Eddie and Jillie to get along. They are not lovey-dovey as so many Yorkies seem to be around here, but they get along and Eddie no longer tries to fight. It's been troubling at times, but the benefits have far outweighed the negatives. Plus, I think Eddie has a loose wire that you don't see in other dogs. You may not have any problems at all.

Senior Yorkie Talker | Wow! Thank you all for your great comments and advice. We are going to see the new puppies tomorrow. We have decided to get the second. We will decide tomorrow if one of these pup will be our new little love bug! So very excited. I do hope that it will be a girl. I have always been the only girl in the family, would be nice to have some ruffles and bows aound here, but if its a boy, then, well we do know boys at this house, that's for sure!

| I know how you feel! We just decided on a little girl to add to our family tonight. We can not wait to get the new lil girl home, but Bella is a bit of an attention hog so we hope that the transition to a two dog home will be fairly smooth!

Senior Yorkie Talker | UPDATE: We met the puppies and will be adding baby Chloe Grace to the family right after Halloween. We are very excited. Now, one other twist, we have Jack Daniel and now will have a boy and girl who are true brother and sister. Hope things don't become freaky around here. Didn't really think much about the hormones of a boy and girl together, thinking more that they are sibs. Jack will be neutered soon, trying to get him to 4lbs first. And, of course, Chloe will eventually be spayed. I've always been the only girl in the family, so it sure will be fun to have a bit of pink and bows around here for a change. So excited to get her, and so happy that Jack will have a playmate.
