Well, I now have 4 dogs, lol....3 yorkies and one totally and perfectly neurotic little rescue chi. We only had 2 for a long time, and I'd say that's the ideal number, by far. With 2 dogs, you can still travel with them in-cabin when flying; most hotels will take 2 small dogs...but not 3+ etcetera. So, I didn't find having 2 much harder with travel and all that.
So I'd say, get one! I shall enable you completely
