| What is the best way to brush and/or comb ! What is the best way to comb and/or brush ? Should I use one or/the other or both ? I usually just brush straight down but I think I am doing something wrong as Oscar does have what looks like broken hairs along his spine .. Other than that he has a beautiful coat .. |

| Oscar is beautiful. I use both the brush and comb. Little bit of this, little bit of that. Use brushes that do not have balls on the tips of the pins. The ball tips damage hair. For tighter or bigger tangles, I use a comb first to pick the hair apart carefully. Combs with closely spaced teeth are also the only way to catch tiny tangles. I always work in sections, starting at the bottom of the hair shaft. If that brushes through, then I move upward, lengthening the stroke. Don't start at the topline and just pull the brush down, not until you are sure the hair is tangle free. I finish with a comb to make sure that the coat is truly tangle free. The only breakage that my boys have had is from the tether in their car seat. Max and Teddy go a little wild in the car and the tether rubs against their backs.

| I put them in a headlock so they can't run for it and have my way with them! LOL Treats! I use the madan brush for the body and small slicker brush with tipped pins for the face then one more time with the mustache comb to get the goobers out. |

| Gorgeous boy! The general rule for preventing hair breakage is: Never brush dry or dirty hair. In a perfect Show Yorkie world, they would be oiled & wrapped to prevent hair breakage... Mine are all in shorter hair styles, so I only brush them after their bath, once their hair is clean. For me, it's all about low maintenance now loll. I always line brush by lifting their leg hair & brushing downwards in layers. This is esp helpful if they have a lot of hair or are prone to tangling....but I don't think Oscar has that prob, he's got beautiful shiny silky hair....what color & size Madan pin brush are you using? If it's not the regular sized soft, maybe Oscar needs the soft cushioned one?

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Glad u like Mane and Tail I was not so fussy about it. But I have a very fine silky coat and found it way too heavy for his coat. I use Royal Crown. But Razzle only gets tangles on his head cause he loves to rub the top of his head on the ground. So sigh daily or at the latest every other day we handle the topknot. Now that he is cutdown we have no problems with leg or body hair tangles and he just requires a regular brushing every 3rd day or so. But I am used to starting from the tips of the hair and clearing that section then going higher. One of these days I will do a video...sigh so much to do so little time.
