Senior Yorkie Talker | Yorkie obsessed with Kitty My Yorkie Chloe is obsessed with the new Kitty next door. Chloe met Kit through the fence, at first she would just stand there and look at Kit, so we held them up and they touch noses, Kit seems very interested in Chloe, but now Chloe snaps at her and if I put her down she runs the fence and barks like crazy. Ever since meeting Kit, Chloe wants out all the time to see if Kit is there and she will stand at the fence forever if you let her, Now Chloe will not pee in the backyard, she is there just to see if Kit comes out. Chloe will come inside and pee on her pee pad instead. It seems she is so busy looking for Kit she won't pee outside. Before Kit, there were bunnies next door and she did the same thing. It only stopped over the winter, because the bunnies no longer came outside. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas how these two could become friends, maybe if Chloe could be closer to Kit she would eventually loose the obsessive behaviour. My other Yorkie Abby really likes Kit, Kit comes right up to her and touches Abby with her paw and Abby just sniffs her, mind you Abby is mostly blind, but they seem to be very friendly with each other. |

| This is just toooooooo dad gum cute!!!! How adorable!! The ONLY fear I have because I had it happen to one of my yorkies, they were playing, the cat and Qui Sa, and the cat slapped my Qui Sa and caught her in the eye.....and that was eye drops and eye care twice a day for the next 10 years for my little dog. Just watch cat claws!! If they are playing and the cat slaps Chloe, playing, and scratcehs her eye bad enough, you will be in the same boat I was! From then on, any cat my son has had, has been declawed. |

| To cute and funny, I agree with Yorkiemom1, watch out for cat claws. If Chloe is all excited and greets kit, kit could feel threatened and slap Chloe in the eye which could cause loss of eye. Your Abby is a calm senior so not threat to kit. I would be very careful with getting Chloe and Kit together, unless Kit is declawed. Several months ago at the vet, my vet has donor cats roaming the office, laying on top of the receptionist desk, one laying on counter it's tail was hanging down and moving, Cody does not know what a cat is, but saw this dangling moving thing (tail) and jumped up at it, it was so fast I never had a chance to pull him back as I was paying the bill, I do believe he did nip the tail, the cat jumped up but stayed on the counter. I finished my business and turned to leave, the next thing I hear is screaming cat Cody is pulling, lunging, growling, barking, I turn to see what is going on. This cat waited till Cody's back was turned then attacked Cody, first the cat attacked his butt, as Cody turned to see what attacked him this cat started slapping the crap out of Cody's face, thank god I had him on a short leash, he couldn't get at the cat. I grabbed him up, all exam doors flew open to see what the ruckus was about, by that time the receptionist had come around and picked up the cat, I checked Cody's face, his eyes, thank god he was ok, I asked if the cat was declawed, was told they clip the nails short, now when Cody sees any cat he wants revenge, this has now become a serious issue for me. There are feral cats where I live, at times they do get in my yard, go under my deck. Cody is out for blood now. Do be careful around Kit.

| Piper was obsessed with my Echo-cat (who I lost about a month after getting Piper) and nothing, but nothing deterred Piper's interest and determination to "get" her. I have to be careful on walks, because we come across some size-able and completely fearless cats who Piper definitely wants to get close to...I won't let Piper approach as the unknown is not to be trusted. Sorry I can be of no help, but I can commiserate---once they get tuned-in to something, it's a lock! Never have I seen the determination of yorkie in anyone/anything else--an amazing ability, really! |
