| Night Screeching I know I have asked about this before but i am just curious as to how long she will be crying at night. She sounds pitiful and is screeching at night. I have tried having her sleep i my room with pads on the floor but by morning my room smells like pee and poop with it everywhere but on the pads. I am forced to put her in the bathroom. How long do I need to do this. |

YT 1000 Club Member | How old is she? We got 2 puppies at 10 weeks of age back in May. The girl puppy immediately started sleeping with my daughter from the very first night and she has only gotten up to pee in the night twice since then. She is the easy puppy at night. My puppy we put into a crate and put it right next to our bed and luckily for us he went right to sleep, but he gets up at 6am like that. After about a month we put him to bed with us and my older Yorkie and now he sleeps until about 9am and then wakes me up to take him outside. There is a pee pad in our bedroom and he will go use it if he needs to, usually if he wakes up early in the morning and needs to go he will go use the pad and let me sleep, either that or I just don't wake up and he gives up. LOL Do you have her in an exercise pen at night? That would limit the area in which she can go to the bathroom? Or try putting her in a crate at night and putting the crate on your bed? If she sleeps with you will she sleep most of the night? I have heard of people getting a large box and putting a pee pad in the bottom of it and a blanket or dog bed and putting the puppy in the box next to the bed with their hand in the box to comfort the puppy until it falls asleep.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Puppies are a LOT of work and take a lot of dedication and patience while they're learning / developing. If it were me, I think I'd just put up the poop/pee smell until she becomes potty trained later....if that's what it took to keep her from being stressed and crying out. How old is she?

| Your best bet would be to put her in a crate in your bed room where she can see you. Sometimes people will buy a crate with a separator and put a pee pad on one side and there bed on the other. When I was potty training my puppy I just had a bed in her crate and when she would whine I would take her outside to go potty then put her back in bed. For them seeing you is very important so they know they are not alone. At this age though its not a good idea to let them run free in the house so you should have a crate and maybe a play pen.

| I also agree to put her in the same room with you and in a crate. Mine did the same thing when he was a pup and once I put him in the same room in the crate, he calmed down knowing he was near me. Good Luck. |

| I have tried that and the only way she will stop crying is if shes in bed with me. I tried that and i ended up with pee and poo in my bed and so i'm not going to try that again for a few weeks. |

| she is 10 weeks and is just on my bed because otherwise she will poo and pee on her bed in the crate. I usually just let her roam free in my bathroom so she can go on her pad and play with her toys. Lately i have been putting my 4 year old shih tzu in with her and she does a little better but still cries. |

| When mind was a pup, a friend suggested and gave me a hot water bottle container. She told me this is like his Mom (the warmth) and will help him. https://www.google.com/search?q=hot+...1x8QVp#imgrc=_ |

| It can take up to a week sometimes or longer. You just have to not react. Having a new puppy is like having a new baby. She is still so very young. The best thing would be a crate where she can see you and if she cries take her potty and then put her back and ignore her.

| Putting a ticking clock where she can hear it may help, and putting a piece of your "dirty" clothing in with her may help. Make sure it is a piece of clothing that if it is torn up is no big deal. We usually use a sock. Other than that, time and consistency are vital. If you put her in the crate, don't give in and move her somewhere else because she whines (potty trips are fine). If you move her because she whines, she learns whining gets her what she wants. Never give her what she wants when she behaves badly.
