| Hello -new member Hello to all Yorkie Lovers, I am new to the site and excited to have found this site on Web. I have two Yorkies, Timmy and Lulu. Timmy is a miniture and Lulu a teacup Yorkie. At moment Lulu is not well. She won't eat and seems to have a bit of tummy upset. Took her to Vet and she has antibiotic and Ulsonic to line the tummy. She was vomiting and then eating grass which made her vomit up a white foam like substance. Have given meds today but still did not want to eat chicken and rice cooked up. Usually eat Royal Canin Adult small pebbles as their diet as they both now one year old. Very worried about her as she is so small and praying that tomorrow she will eat a bit. Vet said this is something Yorkies are prone to so really praying gard for her Healing by tomorrow. Any advice would be welcome pleas . Regards, Desiree [email] dsrlbnbrg341@gmail.com |

| Hello Desiree, Welcome to the Yorkie Talk Forum. I certainly can understand your feelings about your little one not eating well. I have a 3. 5 lb Yorkie that has always given me problems eating since I got him. I have heard that some will put parmesan cheese on the food to entice them to eat. Did your vet give you any ideas on what to do? If her tummy is upset I can see why she would not want to eat. Do you have any nutrical or karo syrup on hand to give to her? It would help to keep up her strength till she starts to eat better. I am afraid I do not have any ideas of my own but I did want to welcome you and at least tell you about sprinkling some parmesan cheese on the food. I am sure some others who are more knowledgeable will be on here soon to help you. Again, welcome to you and your little ones. Do you have any pictures of them to share with us? We love pictures! Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hi and welcome to YT ! Does the vet think she has IBS / IBD or...? Have you tried switching foods or sprinkling parmesan cheese? How is she feeling today? I hope better!

| I like that you jumped on this sick baby like a duck on a june bug......when mine have a day or so when they are not feeling top of the line, I pull out the Pedialyte water and start making sure they are drinking that rather than just "empty" water....this will kind of tide them over electrolyte wise, while you allow their tummies and intestines to rest and settle down and get over whatever may be upsetting them. Next, I limit mine to strictly yogurt with live cultures or cottage cheese for 24-36 hours...this allows their tummies/intestines to settle and re-flouish with digestive tract bacteria. Tummy upset should be over after that time...if pup continues to vomit or just does not feel 90-100%, with a small Yorkie, I am back at my vet office! After allowing stomach/intestines to settle and re-flourish, you should be able to start back with your established diet. Last edited by Yorkiemom1; 08-12-2015 at 11:03 AM. |

I am wondering what brand is "yogurt with live cultures"? So I know what to buy in the future when I need it. Thanks.

Welcome to YT! Aren't you lucky to have 2 yorkies. I also have 2 yorkies, a boy and a girl. Ever since they came into my life, it has been filled with a lot more fun, laughter and love. I sure hope Lulu is feeling better by now. If you have a chance, we would love to see pictures of them.

Live Active Yogurt Cultures (i.e. healthy bacteria): The FDA requires at least two strains of bacteria in all yogurt, L. bulgaricus and S. thermophilus. Yogurt makers can add more. Look for the National Yogurt Association seal: It ensures 100 million cultures per gram. Fat content: Low-fat yogurts are the best because they have a tiny bit of fat to help absorb the protein and vitamins in the yogurt, but they also have more calcium. When fat is removed, calcium gets concentrated. Lower fat yogurts have about 30% of your recommended daily intake. Greek yogurts have 20% (because some calcium is removed through the straining process). I’d choose low fat over non fat. Chobani Plain 0% Greek Yogurt Fage Total 2% Greek Yogurt Dannon Oikos Plain 0% Greek Yogurt StonyField Farms Organic Plain Regular Yogurt Wallaby Organic Plain Regular Yogurt (they also have Plain Greek available) Trader Joe’s Organic Low Fat Plain Regular Yogurt | |

| Hi Desiree I am also new to this forum and very glad to have discovered it. I also have two tiny Yorkies, Katie and Lexie. Katie is 3 years old and Lexie 2 years old. They are both very picky eaters. They started out on Royal Canine mother & baby starter, but refused the RC Yorkie kibbles. They were itching like crazy and had a lot of tummy issues while I was searching for the right food. Eventually they settled with Acana small breed kibble and they are both very happy to eat it. I dehydrate ostrich fillet strips and chicken breast strips for them as treats. Lexie prefers the ostrich. I find that they tend to vomit when they get too hungry and then they refuse to eat. I keep glucose powder in the medicine cabinet and allow them to lick some from my fingers. Usually they feel better after eight minutes (I actually timed it) and then you can start feeding them crumb sized morsels of their treats. Hope this will help in some way. I recently discovered that a lot of their tummy issues are caused by Giardia and when treated with Flagyl, gives immediate relief. |
