| My kids all know whatever's up. They even know what l-e-t-t-e-r-s are. The minute we start to s-p-e-l-l anything, they k-n-o-w we are discussing something they want or want to do with us. When they hear, "the answer is 'yes'" they go nutso with excitement, regardless what we are about to do, and a Yorkie is 'assigned' to watch each human. They also know "the answer is 'no'" and "not this time" but it doesn't make them happy at all to hear it. They 'consult' with the other parent, hoping for a different answer, and are not shy about trying to negotiate a better answer with cute puppy eyes and tilty heads.

| I love this thread - they certianly are smart buggers! We have had construction going on nextdoor to us for months (joy). Our house is VERY close to theirs (we live in downtown Charleston SC). The workers use the driveway between our two houses, and walk up and down it all day long and Maggie doesn't even flinch. But, if my husband is walking up the drive she runs to the door barking. He doesn't even have a regular schedule, he works from home and is in and out all day. And it isn't the car that she can hear because he is usually walking home from wherever he was. And she can't see him because there are no windows on that side of the house. Its crazy. She will go to the door when he is still several houses away.

So now I have a yorkie who knows the difference between a car ride and a walk. They are truly amazing. Another thing I noticed is the behaviors they exhibit when the no one is around. Now that we have cameras, people are seeing amazing behavior from animals that had never been seen before. I think we are now beginning to understand that animal behavior is not just instinct but actual thoughts and feelings. | |

| LOL I don't think I remember enough Spanish for that ... Studied it for two years but didn't have anyone else who knew any to use it and keep in practice. Shame about that...I liked it. But, we have seriously considered using the Blackberry Messenger (BBM is available for Android, iPhone, and Windows phones now...cool!) to text or face/live/video chat from separate rooms to split the conversation..hahaha. They even know when we stop/pause talking mid sentence and 'uhhh' or 'ummm' and nod or gesture that something is up. There is no fooling them...we get away with nothing here.

| We think that we are smarter than Yorkies because we teach them tricks for treats, buy them amazing toys, spend our money and time on them, show them endless love and get the joy of taking care of their every need... Yorkies know that they are smarter than us for exactly the same reasons.
