My kids all know whatever's up. They even know what l-e-t-t-e-r-s are. The minute we start to s-p-e-l-l anything, they k-n-o-w we are discussing something they want or want to do with us.
When they hear, "the answer is 'yes'" they go nutso with excitement, regardless what we are about to do, and a Yorkie is 'assigned' to watch each human. They also know "the answer is 'no'" and "not this time" but it doesn't make them happy at all to hear it. They 'consult' with the other parent, hoping for a different answer, and are not shy about trying to negotiate a better answer with cute puppy eyes and tilty heads.
