Please, while I realize many of you are concerned for the pups, as am I, ....pray for the owner who surrendered these pups. She loved her pups just like we all do......

What happened to her could happen to any one of us. You just never know what can happen to you in life ... no one wants to think things could happen like this, but they can and they do. This is not the first case I have seen like this and sadly probably will not be the last.

Totally agree.

This person absolutely loved her dogs and was a real animal advocate too. To me, this shows us that it could really happen to any one of us, under certain circumstances. I just hope she can heal from this and come back from this place in her life. I care a lot about both her, and these precious pups .

I fully agree with you, Ladyjane, and Yorkiemom1. Those dogs were loved so deeply, and I believe that's why these precious babies don't have broken spirits. I care a great deal about those pups and their mom, who I have always had a great respect for. I'm so sorry life got so difficult for her, and I worry a great deal for her even more now that the great loves of her life are not with her. I worry all the time about what would happen to my husband and Katie if something should happen to me. We've all seen life change in an instant. I'm very sad about these babies and their mom, and my heart is filled with compassion.

While I am devastated about the pups that have been adversely affected by this life event for this poor soul, what about this woman???? Does anyone know if she has family or someone helping HER??? She has obviously been caught up in the jagged jaws of depression and God, I pray SHE has some serious, QUALIFIED help from concerned family.....does anyone know what has happened to HER?? Is she getting the help she desperately needs to even survive this event???

OK, " There, but for the grace of God, go I" comes to mind on this thread. We all need devoted animal lovers spporting us, AND legal documents protecting our animals. Regardless of how "nice" "kind" or "honest" the people in your life, leave detailed instructions (and money) for the future care of your animals! There's a letter in my wallet. Where else should I file it?

I carry same note in my purse in case I am involved in a accident outside my home, I also have same note tape to the inside of my front door, hope this answers your question.

Very sad case. I can't wrap my head around how someone goes to work etc yet ignores the innocent creatures that depend wholly on her. I also don't think it's a good idea to be stuffing Vienna sausages and junk at Dolly without her having labs and possibly an ultrasound done to find out what the cause of her inappetence is. I hope that labs can be done soon and the dog put on a diet that is appropriate and possibly meds to stimulate her appetite (cerenia, mirtnazapine). I will pray for all involved.

I don't know who the person in question is, but I feel like many are tip-toeing around. If it's true she is still able to go to work, why was she not able to care for the dogs? I'm not sure I could care for 8 dogs myself, but if I were at my limit I wouldn't take in more.

And Vienna sausages? What?

I don't think going to work is an indicator that all is well in a person's world.

As for numbers, each person has his/her own number that can be taken care of.

I don't believe that this person consciously knew she had too many and kept taking more in....I believe she just became overwhelmed and the end result was as it is. Not to justify anything, I have seen surrenders in much worse shape than these pups. I see remarks about LP and odd walking....that could be said about a couple of mine but the surgeon I use advises against LP surgery in an adult pup and I have taken them in with varying degrees of LP for evaluation by him. Now, IF they have a torn cruciate ligament, then that is a different story.

I see no good that could come of naming this individual. The important thing is that the pups are going to be ok. Hopefully, so will she.

As for the vienna sausages, apparently that is what a foster home is giving one of the tiny ones without teeth. I am with 107barney in thinking something more needs to be done...I don't know what vetting has been done, but that is not something I have ever fed a pup in my home. I believe there is a post in this thread about this poor pup.

I have been thinking the same thing throughout this. None of us knows what our future holds, whether it be physical health, mental health, or financial health. What would happen to our babies if something happened to us? I know this member loved her pups just like we love our pups and my heart goes out to her. I can't even imagine the pain she is going through losing her babies. I am praying for her. I am so happy that those babies are being cared for by such loving souls. God Bless everyone involved in rescue and fostering. What would we do without you?

I didn't say going to work was an indicator all is well in someone's world. I said I can't wrap my brain around how someone can be functional enough to go to work yet not functional enough to keep your pets from sitting in their own waste. It's more a question in my own head that I just need to move on from because there isn't an answer to it.

I agree the pups look dirty to me but not all that sick. They look fat. All but the little one who desperately needs a vet who wants to do something like Rx meds and do testing. Any dog can have blood drawn from the jugular and if this vet doesn't want to take blood, the dog needs a vet who isn't afraid to handle her.

We have our dogs in our estate plan/will - which provides for them and all of their care for their lifetimes...and so we've told all of our family and friends this info so they know the plan and where to find more info for it.

I like the idea, though, of something in the wallet - thanks for that !

I knew what you had said....Priscilla went on to comment on it so I simply made that remark. What happened here definitely is mind boggling .. I don't understand it, but I do know it happens and, as I said, I pray it never happens to me. Extremely sad.

I also feel terrible for that little one and agree that a vet is in order based upon the description given. I have had pups from 3 lbs up to 15 lbs and they were all treated the same. There is no reason not to be able to draw blood. I see these comments a lot about how vets are afraid to operate and wonder what kind of vets these people are talking about. Someone posted on a FB page the other day that she had to pay more for surgery on a pup because she was 2.5 lbs...I was stunned. If anything, it should have been less expensive!
