I've seen this happen before. We used to go to this restaurant all the time in Belmont Shore which is a cute dog friendly neighborhood of Long Beach. (This is the same place that Lily my former foster ran out of the car and almost got hit and several residents helped us chase her down to get her back.) We were eating outside and a lady tied her tiny yorkie to a table and went inside. I was shocked so I went and stood by the pup with Uni and spent some time with him while the lady was inside. Although, in her defense, it was a tiny restaurant/fish market and the inside was only a few hundred square feet so she was like less than 6 feet away, but still.

I've seen large dogs tied to posts before. I wouldn't approach a large dog for fear of getting bit so I would think most people would either or try to steal a large dog.

I'm so glad you were able to catch your little foster and good for you for watching that little pup. I wonder why people don't consider that as well as being stolen, the tied up pup is also vulnerable to attack by an unfriendly dog or other animal. Or even a child hurting their pup accidentally or a cruel person kicking it. No way EVER!

This day in age, "Oh Hell NO!"

40 some years ago as kids it was SOP to walk to the store, tie our family dog up outside and buy an item or two needed for dinner that night, but, those days are long gone.

I can't even drive the dog on a run to the post office(and then the park) for concern that some zealot will break into our car.

I would never tie my babies up nor would I leave them unattended anywhere besides safely in my home. One day at the grocery store a lady had her maltese in a basket on her bike and parked the bike on the bike rack and just left the dog and went in the store. My kids and I were shocked!!! I don't understand how people leave their pups unattended out in public.

I would never do it. I would spend the rest of my days heartsick. I think the person who would leave a dog unattended is foolish, but a person who would steal a dog is lacking empathy for dogs and for people. It would haunt me to think of my dog with a person like that.

I just can't believe how careless some people are about their furbabies, that are suppose to be family members. I never even leave my home for 5 minutes without setting the alarm, just too be sure Zoey has the best chance of being safe from thieves !!! So leaving her tied anywhere is unthinkable.....not even in my own back yard is she ever left alone.

No never have nor would I ever tie them up. Too many
crazies out there.
