| Bad Breath - Teething? Our Holly is teething, and I'm thinking and hoping that is what's causing her to have really bad breath. Has anyone else experienced this? It's lasted a few weeks now, I'm not sure exactly how many teeth she has lost, she won't let me have a good look in her mouth. Any tips on how to make breath smell fresher during teething? We have tried ice cubes and it sort of helps. There's no way she will let me brush her teeth Also in the last day or so, her eyes have been seeping more than usual and more yellow-ish rather than just tears. Hopefully this is all just from her teeth. Poor thing. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Yes, teething can cause both bad breath and teary eyes....so that sounds like what's happening. If the eye discharge worsens, gets thicker, turns greenish...then you need to get her in and checked for an eye infection. The only thing you can really do is give her chews, which will help clean the surface a bit, will activate enzymes, and may help loose teeth come out.

| I know you said Holly won't let you brush her teeth but have you tried this product: Amazon.com: Tropiclean Fresh Breath Plaque... It's better if you CAN use the toothbrush but it's more intended for just rubbing it on. I use this myself and am very happy with it. You can use your pinky to rub the gel onto her teeth and gum. |
