| I think some of the most serious issues with Yorkies that I have seen here on YT have been posted by people who have just purchased a pup from a less than reputable breeder. Lots of cases of hypoglycemia that could have been avoided if the breeder had kept the puppy longer. However some cases of hypoglycemia can be linked to a deformed liver and if that is the case the hope for recovery is slim without surgical intervention. There are other problems that show up later like deformed knees and hips, liver problems and a multitude of genetic issues. It is a risk a new owner takes when buying from a breeder that does not test their stock before using them for breeding purposes. To say these problems are not very prevalent out there on the Yorkie market would be dishonest. I hope the OP has a good healthy pup that will be a happy companion for many years. My girl has been healthy for 4 years and I hope she stays that way. She will be 5 in May. |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I think my little girl will live a long and happy life. I know she is still young but she has a great start. Only time will tell but now that we have all of her puppy shots, I am very happy. She will be spayed in late April to make sure all of her adult teeth are in and no leftover baby teeth. |

YT 1000 Club Member | I have a 9 year old Yorkie, Teek. He seems to be very healthy and he loves to play and snuggle. Someone else put something about how they get comfortable after you have them a bit. Mine squeals like a guinea pig when I come home because he is so happy to see me. It is absolutely adorable. Mine rarely barks at all, which is nice. He thinks he is 5 years old though, so I don't tell him that he is really 9. I saw another person who has a Yorkie named Tiki. My husband named him Teek and I love the name, however after I had him a bit, I call him Teeki (but think of it as Tiki) and tell people that he is the Tiki Torch that lights my life. He is absolutely wonderful and if you read my signature you will see how I feel about him.
