I think some of the most serious issues with Yorkies that I have seen here on YT have been posted by people who have just purchased a pup from a less than reputable breeder. Lots of cases of hypoglycemia that could have been avoided if the breeder had kept the puppy longer. However some cases of hypoglycemia can be linked to a deformed liver and if that is the case the hope for recovery is slim without surgical intervention.
There are other problems that show up later like deformed knees and hips, liver problems and a multitude of genetic issues. It is a risk a new owner takes when buying from a breeder that does not test their stock before using them for breeding purposes. To say these problems are not very prevalent out there on the Yorkie market would be dishonest.
I hope the OP has a good healthy pup that will be a happy companion for many years.
My girl has been healthy for 4 years and I hope she stays that way. She will be 5 in May. |
