| ![]() I would not crate longer than 4 hrs, and that is in a pinch, not a regular thing. I generally crate her at most for one or two hours a day. If there were a situation where it would have to be longer, I would get a friend to sit and walk her or take her for a doggy daycare drop-in. You can board her. However, today she got out of crate, so perhaps a pen is best |

| ![]() Jackson is not crated and hasn't been since he was like 4 months old lol. He has free roam and has been left up to 8ish hours. I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving a dog in a crate for more than 7-8 hours max personally.

| ![]() Ok so I am not crazy to think 8+ hours is ridiculous! I used to leave Geno and Mia out and have free roam of the living room in two different apartments but they destroyed those carpets and I had to pay twice to get them replaced so they have to be crated. Plus I don't trust Geno to go on the pads when I am not home. He is going to be 4 in May and I should have crated him from the beginning when he was a puppy to get him potty trained but he was my first and I learned from my mistakes lol Mia is good when we are there about peeing and pooping on the pads but i'm not so sure about her while we are gone. Since Geno went on the carpet for sure, I am not positive that Mia didn't.

| ![]() I crate mine from 8:15a.m-7:00pm Monday-Thursday. I usually go home at lunch and let him out to pee at 2:30pm. If I don't, he holds it til I get home (but that isn't often). His crate is for a 100 pound dog, so he has lots of room. He just turned 1. He has lots of energy when I get home from work. I walk him 2-3 miles every night so he'll sleep. |

| ![]() I've never crated a dog. When my girls were babies, and being trained to the pee pad I put up the expen, attached to the front of the wire crate, (door removed) thick pad with small blankie inside and the crate covered with a blanket making it den-like. Then the pee pad at the far end of the expen, water bottle attached to the pen, then a small beef femur bone for chewing and a safe solid rubber toy. I would also take them out in the yard about every hour or two, for more exercise and training in a leash.

| ![]() I forgot to mention, I didn't use disposable potty pads. (didn't want to take a chance that they would shred and possibly choke). I used the quilted pads from RDB911 here on YT. I only use disposable when we travel. To make sure the puppy knows what the pad was for, I would take a tissue outside with them and blot some pee when they went, then blot it on the pad. They smell their pee and then they know. Works like a charm. (as long as they are in the expen, and not running all over the house, which is a major no no). In the evening, I would put them on the sofa with me to play, cuddle, nap and all, but off to the pad when they started sniffing. ![]()

| ![]() I crate Jake if we have to go out, but never longer than 5 hours. He loves his crate. He senses when we're going out and actually jumps into his crate on his own. I leave a small bowl of water and some toys inside the crate. Sometimes I take him for a short walk before we leave. |

| ![]() Moki get baby gated to the family room. With water and a pee pad incase he can hold it. He hates the crate. Winnie loves the crate she gets crated for her safety. I have a webcam on her also. But she only sleeps in there and for 4 hrs max. Otherwise I get a babysitter. Moki is bigger so he can be alone for awhile. Winnie is my new dog. To young now.Always with water. http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f9...pskwrbwfms.png |

| ![]() Tatiana is not crated. She has free roam of the house. One time, I did have to crate her. We were traveling, and had her with us. We were attending an out-of-town funeral. During the funeral, we left Tatiana in the hotel room. For her safety, I crated her in a medium-size play pen with water, bedding, and potty towels. The front desk was notified my dog was in the hotel room, housekeeping was notified to NOT come in, and I left (and taped) a "do not disturb sign" on the door. But for extra safety, I crated Tatiana, too. We were gone for about 3 hours. |

| ![]() Not all dogs can have free roam. My prior dogs could. But Moki can't. he gets into much trouble. And doesn't like to be left alone. In his own room I believe he feels safer. Weenie likes her crate. I believe she feels safer. She runs in there when shes scared of Moki or something new. Someone is always home at my house except for daily chores. For ppl who are working and have no choice like pups aren't potty trained ect. I would just keep them in on room with a crate in a gated area. For there safety and lessen any damage they may cause. And always have water avalible. JMO |

| ![]() I attempted to crate Piper the first night I brought her home, but she got panicky and that was that...She has free run of our tiny place, but she's 4 yrs old and very good about not getting into mischief (how'd I get so lucky with this precious little one?!) I don't know...No matter how nice, would you want to be confined to one room of your home for 12-13 hours? I agreethat a trusted babysitter would be a much better solution! |

| ![]() Confined for THEIR safety. Especially pups. Alot of dogs actually like there crates or one room. They don't feel the need to protect the whole house. My friends Boxer will go in his crate when he leaves and stay in it almost the whole time he's gone. The crate door will be open and he has a webcam so he know what he does. |

| ![]() Moki hates crates Winnie lover them. She goes in there to sleep when we leave she goes there automatic and Moki goes into the Family room where he stays. They just sleep anyways. I have webcams to watch live. All dogs are different. But better to have one area torn up when they are puppies instead of your whole house. |
