Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() Ok...I have had animals ALL of my life. Dogs, cats, ducks, rabbits, chickens, goats, snakes...these just name a few. I have NEVER been this paranoid. Bonnie will be 12 weeks old tomorrow and I am panicking over every sneeze and grunt. I took her to the vet Monday night because she sounded congested and sneezed and grunted/coughed. The vet said she's fine and it's probably just allergies to the new carpet cleaner I used. She said clean the carpet and don't worry. Bonnie has had her "well puppy" check and is current on her shots but I have read so much about tracheal collapse and liver shunts that I'm terrified. Any suggestions on how to relax?😱 |

But I have to admit they are a hardier breed than I thought. I used to rush them to the vet and pay $60 every time, but the advice was often the same. They're fine. Give them some bland food for a couple days. One had bad reverse sneezing that would give me fits, but the vet told me not to worry. And sure enough, the symptoms went away after a time. I think the advice that got through to me was someone's advice here on YT -- kids get sick, and you don't rush them to the emergency room every time there's a sniffle. You learn to let them heal themselves. But I agree: It's not always easy!

| ![]() I hear you! When my son was growing up and he got a cold or sniffles unless he ran a fever it was drink some orange juice and take a nap. My little diva so much as sneezes and I think, should we head to the vet! If she could just speak my language it would just really help ![]()

YT Addict | ![]() Your not the only one . This forum can really help. But sure can scare the bagibees out of ya. Im paranoid to boo coughs and it scares me. Today he sneezed and im worried he got kennal cough while at the humaine society. But the bad stories of sick dogs here are not the norm. Im sure there are thousands of healthy yorkies who live long lives. Its like when i had surgery. I stayed away from people who had bad results. I was Scared enough. Mine turned out great. |

YT 500 Club Member | ![]() Oh believe me your not the only one. My new puppy makes a noise like he is clearing his throat. It is a real fast quick hack!! Every time I hear it I have a panic attack. Three different vets and they all say oh don't worry about it unless he is acting sick. But I still worry. Maybe yours has kennel cough. Sammie gets congested to at times. is she still coughing Last edited by mindy10; 02-20-2015 at 02:48 PM. |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() Actually, it was not long after this post that Bonnie was finally diagnosed with Kennel cough. I think she got it from the nasal drop vaccine for Bordatella. I learned the hard way that this vaccine is a live vaccine. She was on antibiotics, cough medicine and Benedryl. It took 3 weeks but she is now clear and healthy and back to her adorable self😀. I haven't had her long but it's already difficult to imagine life without her! |

| ![]() I feel your pain, lol I had took my girl to the vet twice within this month. She has luxating patellas but I've also was concerned if she might had other issues cause she cries over every other thing or when she's displeased/wants attention >_<. Got her some "just incase" pain meds for days if she gets a bit sore and some joint supplements. That girl brings me as much joy as she does stress ^^;; Ever since I brought her home I have be on and off in the land of paranoia X_x;

I think your worry shows how committed you are to being a good mom to these little dogs. However, like the post above states, you will find that these dogs are hardier than we perhaps realize at first and you will relax in time. I know I have!! I haven't relaxed TOO much but just enough so that me and Teddy can live our lives without constant fear! | |
