| Why does Stella and Chewy's hate me?? I have been feeding my girls a meal with Stella and Chewy's freeze dried in the morning for about a year. In the past 6 months I have had about 4 bags of food where the nuggets were so hard and I had to use a rolling pin to break them up. I questioned S & C and was told since they don't make large batches of food at one time they can't make each batch to the same consistency and some of the batches are hard and there is nothing wrong with the food. The packages have an expiration date for next year so it isn't that it is expired food. This morning I noticed Macy and Molly's poo looked like it had sand mixed in with it. I was trying to think what she ate yesterday that would look like sand and then it hit me.....the S & C pheasant that they have been eating is so hard it looks like sand when mixed with water. It looks like the food isn't even being digested and just passing through their systems. I really love S & C because it seems they have more flavors than other brands to choose from. Looks like I will be trying Primal now. Does anyone else have problems with S & C's or have a theory why the food isn't being digested?

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | How frustrating for you, ugh. It stinks to have them be so hard that you can't break them up w/ your hands...that's no fun. There are a lot more brands out there now that sell freeze dried, so maybe you want to branch out...? Only Natural Pet Store carries a lot of freeze dried and maybe they have free shipping over a certain amount...something to maybe check out. I don't know what to say about it possibly not being digested, that's odd.

| I probably would have not thought too much about it if only one showed undigested food in their pooh but to both have the same thing is odd and a little disturbing to me. I have to get my food on Chewy so I am at their mercy as to what I can order. I am going to try Primal and see if they like it. They don't have the variety S &C does but if I can find 2 flavors they like I can rotate between those. I also looked at Orijen but was a little concerned about the higher protein and fat level.

| IDK if you saw this (thread link below), but S&C changed something about their Pheasant freeze dried & are keeping tight lipped about it. B4, it was so easy to break off, smelled yummy & now it's hard as a rock, LOTS of sharp fragments of bone...not kidding, half are bones. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...bones-s-c.html I have 3 bags of unopened pheasant...I can see pieces of bone in the patties through the bag. I can't return them, it costs more to return, ordered it online via doggiefood. I think the sandy grainy texture you're seeing are bones...in their poopie. If there's too much bones in their diet, their poopies get ashy. Just a guess. I stopped feeding Mimi the S&C Pheasant bc it looked like she was getting tummy aches & her poopies would crumble, break up...weird! You should try Primal's Duck freeze dried. That's one of my guys favs. Easy to break off, never had an issue w/it. They also have Turkey & sardine.

Thanks for the info....didn't know about the S & C pheasant. I think it's time to try another brand. Luckily, I was going to place an order today so I'm going to try Primal.
