| No we are not on the same page blue born is the same thing as CDA. Blue born is the breeder term for it and CDA is the veterinary term for it. The only health problems associated with blue born is in extreme cases the skin most just have hair loss. There is only one yorkie born with the blue color and that is the blue born or CDA affected yorkie. I have done tons of research on this and I will never be convinced its too separate disorders. There is still alot of misinformation about this on the internet

Ok, I will agree to respectfully disagree with you since what I am saying is that I agree with you that the conditions are the same but the internet is advising otherwise..I think that got lost in translation somewhere... To the OP, I would advise you to seek the opinion your vet with respect to the prognosis of CDA. Whether or not it is the same as "blue born" is irrelevant as long as the correct treatment is sought and adhered to. A vet opinion should always be taken over a lay person or internet advice. If you wish to compare what my vet says to what your vet says re CDA, let me know and good luck x Last edited by SirTeddykins; 12-09-2014 at 09:09 AM.

There may be correlations between color and other genes so she suggested that any queries regarding blood lines be asked of the breeder Hope this and other info assists until someone with experience of c d a comes along.. In the meantime this condition is found in other breeds with blue coat genes so may be worthwhile checking other forums like Doberman for example Last edited by SirTeddykins; 12-09-2014 at 12:36 PM.

| Thanks to all of you for your opinions, information and support! I don't scare easy...lol...or my husband would be in big trouble...LOL Zombie has been through the gambit of tests since he was between 6-9 months old. All of the test came back normal...except the "mutated" abnormal gene. His vet diagnosed him with CDA. He needs special shampoos, moisturizing rinses...almost almost always has to have a shirt on and puppy sunscreen in the summer...ever if he is in the house. We watch him carefully in the cold weather, because sometimes he has a hard time keeping warm. BUT...I love him to death! He is soooo sweet and loving. He was being discarded at 11 weeks by a person who bought him and then decided she did not have time to train a puppy. I think she didn't want him after she realized that he did not look like your typical Yorkie puppies. He is 6 years old now, and other than being 1/2 naked, perfectly healthy! Thanks again to you all...I knew I was going to like being in this forum! |

| I hope these pictures show up...still new at this. It is a picture of his "coming home" picture and then another when he was 9 months old sitting on a "doggy duvet" that I made for him. :-) |
