| Thanks for the info. I surely don't want to use it if it is not safe. She is my baby. |

| Have you tried baking soda?? I make a paste of baking soda and water and put it on their faces and let it dry then wash is off with a warm cloth. It worked wonders for me. Maybe give it a try. |

| tear stains I will remember that trick with the baking soda. Roxie is 4 but I adopted her from my niece about 9 months ago. She no longer worked at home, and poor Roxie was alone most of the time. As soon as I stopped working she came to live with me. I never knew how much I could love a dog. I have always had a cat and still do. I will most likely be asking for lots of advice here. Thanks so much for the reply. |

| Every morning I use a warm wash cloth on Bentley's face and eyes. I gently comb him around his eyes to get any "sleep" removed.

| Coming from a guy, so don't laugh, a clean make-up sponge works great. Its part of Ginger's groom kit |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Some people find that giving bottled water rather than tap water helps w/ eye issues.

I agree with Dyan...it's most effective to just wash and comb the face daily. Poor Tyson has terrible "runny" eyes. We switched to bottled nursery water about a year ago. This has helped some but...I guess he's just prone to "runny" eyes. So just keeping him cleaned up and not letting it get hard and crusty is my best advice.

| I agree with everyone else about Angel Eyes, I wouldn't use it. If you don't use bottled water, I'd start by giving bottled water not tap. Also, cleaning the eye area with a little flea comb daily should help the area stay clean.

| Chachi gets them and we just have to clean it daily with a cloth with warm water. If you let it go it will become like super glue and get real hard and then the only way to get it out is to cut it

| After trying everything - bottled water, nursery water, yogurt, switching foods, no wheat, etc. - we started using Angel Eyes (sweet potato) with our little guy. He still has wetness but no more gunk. Both the groomer and vet have recommended it so I'm not too worried about it. However, he eats very little of it at once - he gets about a cup of food sprinkled with 1/4tsp. Angel Eyes. Sometimes that takes him about a week to eat because he's spoiled and gets too many treats |

| angel eyes I am thankful to hear that, and i know what you mean about taking a long time to eat it She does not like the taste at all. I have her some that first day and then posted this about angel eyes. My first response was so negative I have not tried to give it to her again. Again, Thank You so much .... it's good to hear you discussed it with vet and groomer. Roxie is so litte i will only give her 1/8 of a tsp. She is 4 and weights about 3 lbs maybe. Being a new Yorkie mom is very different from being a Kitty mom. I adopted Roxie from my niece. She has been with me lmost a year now. |

Also, you can buy the main ingredient in Angel Eyes, I think it is tylan, from Cal Vet Supplies. It is much cheaper and you only use a tiny bit.
