I can understand her side because as I've gotten older, I have lots of problems finding the right word or sometimes my mind just goes blank, it's very frustrating and I could see she was having difficulty expressing herself and the conflict between the two of you made it worse. I probably shouldn't have posted anything, after I did, I noticed you two had already worked it out, so I hope there is no hard feelings?

I tried, I went back and reread my first post and still didn't see any attacking or anything. I get people use the wrong words we all do it but pulling the I'm not going to post anymore card and making someone feel like crap for not doing anything isn't fair either. I don't feel my post chased any one away but I was made to feel like I posted something terrible. My feelings were hurt I was in defensive mode, I don't have a problem with anyone.

Yes, I think Nutracal is a good suggestion. Remember yorkies need to keep their blood sugar active. This is a great opportunity for you to show your dog the routine in the car. Always safely crated, not out and about. Calming conversation and peaceful music as all these things in a car can seriously affect how your dog will behave in the vehicle in the future. I have a little electric pad that plugs into the car adapter and keeps the floor of the kennel nice and warm, not hot. Good luck and enjoy your new family member

Thank you I will check it out. Hopefully my neck will get strong here soon. But I'm old and tend to make mistakes no matter what. As you get older and not as alert to things it's really hard to accept. Your not on the ball as much as you were when you were younger.

I received a lot of negative comments about me trying to cross the US/Canadian border with a 9 1/2 week Yorkie pup. I was told flat out by one poster "No, Not going to happen". Well, I contacted the CDC and within 2 days I had approval to bring her across the border into the US. We are now half way back to Tennessee and had no problem crossing the border. She's a good little traveler. She's eating well, drinking well, and playing like all puppies should. She got an excellent vet check. She's a beautiful little baby and well worth the drive. I met the breeder, met the Mom and daddy Yorkie and saw the pristine conditions in which she was being raised. The local breeders did not want me to see where their pups were being housed. Red flag as far as I'm concerned.

WONDERFULL IM SO HAPPY you were able to get your puppy. Good thing tho you were able to get all info you needed to be able to get her. I'm glad you get to enjoy your baby and she traveled good. Maybe cause she is young. I know up till i found this sight i had got my puppies at 8 weeks. They went every where with me. They lived 12 ,13, and 17 years old. They thought they were people not dogs. Spoiled rotton. But they were pommerainians and a doxie. My doxie grew up with all my grand kids. She would push the ball to them as babies to get them to play. Tore my heart out when she died. Please dont anyone read something into my comment just sharing my past and pups. No more no less.

It's also a red flag though that your breeder leg the pup go before it shoukd have been let alone to make a long trip.

Yay! I am so happy for you and your new little baby. Be sure to journal her story because she had quite an exciting beginning into your family. And all the work you went through makes her just that much more special. Also so glad you got to meet your breeder in person and see the conditions. Setting eyes on someone in person and getting a feel for how they do business makes all the difference in the world. Sound like you got just the right puppy for you and probably the one you were meant to have all along.

In Oklahoma you wont be able to get a Yorkie unless you are willing too take one between 6-8 weeks. Mostly 6. I'm just saying, not doing. I've taken two like that. So far no problems due to their age, except hey are bad about biting but they learn not to do that after awhile.

Seller, Breeder or BYB can and should be reported if they INSIST puppy be taken at under 8 weeks old.

On what basis did the CDC approve your pup to cross the border? Are you obligated to quarantine her for one month until you can get the Rabies shot?


I am just really interested in factual information and how easy it would be for an American Citizen to import a puppy from Canada.
