| Summertime Where are your yorkies in the summer? I know this is really early to ask but my room gets really hot without AC so by that time I'm hoping I can leave Zoe in the living room but its still hot. Do you leave a fan for him and lots of water? or is water enough?

| I actually leave my dogs in the kitchen/dining room which is all tiled. But I do leave the AC on all day for them.

| Really? There is no way I can leave the AC on all day when nobody is home. Is this dangerous for a pup/dog?

| Last summer we tired not to turn on the ac too much. We spent alot of time in the pool to keep cool. Gus really didn't care for the pool too much but he would run back and forth and play in the water on the ground and have a ball while the kids splashed. If I noticed he was getting too hot I would put his lower body in the kitchen sink to cool him off. I can tell he felt a lot better after that. He would run like crazy were as before he didn't even want to play let alone run or even walk. He just wanted to lay on the cool tile.

| I'm sure a Yorkie can be comfortable in any temperature we are in. Including a little more warm than we like. My Yorkie sits by the heat register once in a while - not because he's cold, but because he just likes the heat. It's like me enjoying a hot tub or sitting by a fireplace. Carol Jean |

| I'm in Texas...we have heat ALL the time..if we are lucky it varies a bit..but it is still mostly hot! If I am really hot, the dogs must be too! We use the A/C most of the year, but when outside and the dogs are in a lot of sunshine, I make sure there is not only cool water avaliable, but we use a kiddie pool under a deep shade. Not all of the pups LAY in the water (I have one that completely submurges herself in water), some just wade in it, but it keeps them cool. With our heat I couldn't leave the pups in the house without a/c. Heck people here die from lack of a/c...so I just keep myself comfortable and if I am..then the pups are too! During Rita (the hurricane) last year we were without power for 2 days. We put a fan on in the kitchen and dogs did great (I melted!). So I really believe do what YOU are comfortable with. If you are comfortable with a certain temp..your babies will be too. Just leave lots of water for them.

| It get VERY hot here in the summer and its not so much the heat that is unbearable, its the damp atmosphere (I live on a little Island). It gets so damp sometimes that everything seems wet (curtains, bedding, couch etc etc) so we have to leave our AC on all day to dry out the air and keep the house cool. When we go out,we dont leave the cold air on full, but the de-humidifier stays on to make Lady and Jessies day more comfortable.Without it I think it would be unbearable for them Also,we only walk them at night in the summer because the heat is way to much during the day. Water is a must, and if its got a few ice cubes in it then all the better |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I'm in Texas also and we have to run our AC in the summer all the time - (which sucks cause last year one month was almost 400.00) but I couldn't imagine leaving my girls without ac. You can always leave the ac to a reasonable temp so it comes on and off but doesn't get too cold.... IF you feel it's too hot where you leave Zoe...I would get a fan and keep it high enough to be totally out of reach - AND always leave water down. |

| We are out by the pool everyday. Princess has her own little pool to play in. She's so funny with all her toys with her. She will go in the big pool, but only with me, and most of the time she wants to ride in her little boat. When we all go in she runs around the pool, waiting to catch a ride.
