| Why not microchip? Was reading a post and it was mentioned that some owners don't believe in chipping. Just wondering why not.

So owners weigh the potential benefits and consequences. Personally, I choose to microchip as it increases the chances of ZoE being returned to me if she should ever be lost. It also shows legal proof of ownership, should any dispute arise with a lost or stolen pet. I can feel the implant, so know it's location and can monitor for any potentially developing lump in the future. Also, for international travel, microchipping is required.

| Thanks for the info. I, too, can feel zoey's chip. I'll be sure to check it once in a while to make sure there are no extra lumps around.

| I have read story's of cancer. Also the body will attack foreign objects in the body. Most of the people who I know and live in my area wouldn't even know about a microchip let alone spend the time taking the dog some where to be scanned. The fastest and best line of defense in getting your dog back is a collar with a tag. People like to say well if there stolen the vet will scan and find out the dog was stolen. Most of the time if someone steels a dog they aren't going to get it vet care and if you can feel the chip or the they know the dog has a chip they might even try to remove it. My dog is never left alone so I do not feel a microchip is for my dog. There are people who judge and say not microchipping your dog is not being a good owner and I find that to be not only false but hurtful.
