I have read story's of cancer. Also the body will attack foreign objects in the body. Most of the people who I know and live in my area wouldn't even know about a microchip let alone spend the time taking the dog some where to be scanned. The fastest and best line of defense in getting your dog back is a collar with a tag. People like to say well if there stolen the vet will scan and find out the dog was stolen. Most of the time if someone steels a dog they aren't going to get it vet care and if you can feel the chip or the they know the dog has a chip they might even try to remove it. My dog is never left alone so I do not feel a microchip is for my dog. There are people who judge and say not microchipping your dog is not being a good owner and I find that to be not only false but hurtful.
