there are several people on this particular thread alone, that even if they dont necessarily agree with the OP or what she is doing / asking about, still manage to be respectful and kind and simply answer her question without putting her down. Why is that so hard to do?

You guys would probably call the breeder I got my Athena from a "Back Yard Breeder". I dont know. Before coming to Yorkie Talk I had never even heard the term Back Yard Breeder before so didnt know the difference. she didnt normally breed her dogs to sell puppies. But the accidentally got together and it happen. Are there things she could of done. OF COURSE. she could have gotten the dogs spayed and neutered, for one, and perhaps other things as well. but she didnt. But my Athena is not a crap dog, and I dont feel I am a crappy person for adopting her. In fact I think I have done very well at caring for her, and getting her proper vet care etc. My vet seems to think I have done very well. So what right do a bunch of people who have never met me in person have to say other wise? Athenas breeder may not have been a top notch breeder, but I am not going to be breeding her. I got her spayed. Just because I can not afford to pay out a grand for a new puppy all at once doesnt make me a bad owner that shouldnt have a dog. And my Athena, who is the bill of health so far, deserves a good home just the same as the one that cost a grand.

There im done. let the ridicule begin. I dont care. I love my baby and I am a good fur baby Mama regardless of what some of the HOITY-TOITY people on here want to say.

There are also many new members who will make older and yes wiser very knowledges members leave. No one makes anyone feel like there dog is crap just the breeder. Bad breeders do a disservice to the breed they make more unhealthy, sick, not even close to standard dogs. A reputable breeder breeds to better the breed period anyone else who is doing it just for the heck of it should not be creating more dogs just because when there are millions being put to sleep. We have to stop the bad breeders because rescues and shelters are full and many big health issues are plaguing the breed. If we had just reputable breeders breeding we could get a hold on this illness and lessen then if not irradiate some big bad genetic ones. I know your story getting your pup and had you not gotten that pup she might have died no matter what anyone says you saved her in my eyes. I got mine from a broker who got there dogs from a puppy mill before I knew better but even being large and with floppy ears that doesn't make her crap or less as good as any one else's and I would put her up against anyone. It is not the dogs fault ever.

like i've said before, i worked on a forum for over 10 years, not related to dogs...and trained my moderators...we never allowed *anyone* to attack anyone else...period...

I don't know anyone who thinks your dog is crap or would ever even say that. Its general knowledge reputable breeders don't breed mixes because they breed to better the breed that doesn't mean your dog is crap and if you didn't know that before you do now. I really don't think anyone on yt would call your dog crap and if they did you should report it. Anything you think is wrong report it that's the only way to make it stop and go away.

Again my thoughts are it would be dependent on your experience with dogs and training. Along with that experience would be the knowledge to evaluate the two puppies environment and health risks.

I think it was a pretty valid question. Never had I actually thought about that. At the thought of two puppies at once I just go lol so never got any farther after that. I had a hard enough time with one.

You skipped right over the most important part!! The title of the post!! I think the attitude of the post was set with the title, not the question!

I am sure without that negative connotation straight out of the gate, with just the questions asked, the entire post would have never produced "5 pages of BoB" (have NO idea what that means!) and the question would have been answered with opinions directed specifically to the question, rather than members getting their backs bowed up over the implication they had better answer sweetly and only in a manner approved by the OP or dont answer the post at all because "what you have to say is irrelevant". Dont approach people with an attitude, expecting hatefullness and meaness and beligerance, and you more than likely will not find the need to run and hide. I hope all new posters take that advice to heart....all breeds are welcome here, no dogs are crap, and if members on this forum are treated like they are sincerely concerned and more than willing to help address any question or issue a poster may have, rather than like a bunch of ogres just waiting to attack some poor new person, they may just be amazed at the positive responses they receive.

I dont think anyone said anyone said those words, "you have a crap dog". What was said is it often comes across in a way that makes us FEEL like some people are saying that.

Was it their intent to make people feel that way? Perhaps not, but that doesnt mean it doesnt happen.

To say, no one has ever made anyone feel that way, well im sorry but I disagree. You have at least two people on this thread that say they were made to feel that way at some point on this forum in the past at least.

I totally understand and agree with what you are talking about. I will never again ask a question concerning the health or care about my old guy here on YT because of how I was treated by LP. YT is still a good forum. Most of the people here are awesome! Others, not so much.

After 80 responses to this thread, I just had to take a peek at it. No surprises, some good, some ugly. Some offering sage advice or pertinent info may have been misunderstood. Some were directly rude and condescending.

Very often, reporting a rude or condescending posting remains in the thread. It just depends on who wrote the rude post.

I am sure NONE of us want anyone to think their dog is crappy, for whatever reason. It is impossible to mandate or control how a person MUST feel about a post. It is impossible to guarantee that no one will ever read a post and feel absolutely positive about it. While it is so sad that some people come away "feeling" a certain way because of a post, please remember there are just as many MEMBERS who also have feelings, and their feelings are just as important as anyone elses, including any new OP.....there have been many long time members, very knowledgable people that have just given up and left this forum because they are constantly attacked about the way they post.....nothing that is outside the rules or regulations, but just because someone "feels" a poster may have gotten their feelings hurt.....the members that really had so much to give to this community, so much experience, so much knowledge, so much valuable information they could share with so many people, finally threw up their hands and walked away....just because someone did not like they way they answered questions. They were made to feel like their input was not appreciated or received well, because someone got their feelings hurt. Not that they insulted or humilated or attacked or belittled anyone, but just because someone FELT they did not like the way they answered questions....they "felt" they were spoken to unkindly. That is the real tragedy in this whole scenerio....sooooo many people will go unhelped, sooooo much expertise will be missed, simply because someone did not like the way they answered a question. You cant please all the people, all the time. While I sincerely do hope we never lose another new poster, I also REALLY pray we do not lose anymore of the respected, knowledgable, concerned people that can really help make this the most informative, most helpful forum covering dog care, available to anyone that wants to be a member.

yes I know you said they didnt "call" them that and did not say it didnt make them feel that way. But I just wanted to clarify it. With some people to say one would mean both. I dont know which it is with you. I jsut felt like it was important to understand that just because a person doesnt actually say the words, doesnt mean they cant still come across in a way that gives the person they are talking to the impression that is what they are thinking and mean. But yes, those impressions can be wrong.
